Psych appointments & sexual questions *adult*

Just wondering if other people get asked about their sex lives by psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, CPNs etc.

Its been brought up twice recently in 2 different appointments now (which makes me wonder what they talk about behind the scenes... ).

Not that I mind, think its an important thing to talk about in my situation but just curious to see if others get asked.

No. I think they mentioned relationships once, but I'm fairly antisocial, and therefore, sex is quite unlikely. :p

If it bothers you, say something, but otherwise, I guess it doesn't matter.

Yes every health professional asks me about this.

I must look like someone who has a lot of sex. Lol

Honestly though I think it can be an indicator of how your mood is and how your managing it.
Like if I'm depressed I'm not very "sexual" with my partner because my mood is too low and if I'm manic I want sex ALL the time.
When my mood is normal than my sex life is normal.

I'm mean is it certainly not the only indicator of mood/functioning but it certainly is an indicator.

The topic has come up in therapy a few times before (i'm having psyhotherpay). He doesn't directly ask me questions about relationships/sex, but when talking about me growing and developing into a young adult and the changes and the future, well the topic has come up.

It should be a standard part of every psych assessment but not every Dr likes to bring it up in a first appt.
There are a number of reasons for it.
1) The pattern of a person's relationships can be important to diagnose/rule out a personality disorder
2) Any abuse in a relationship/sexual abuse/bad sexual experiences could be relevant to any diagnosis
3) Discussing this subject may reveal thoughts/feelings about sexuality which may again be relevant.
4) A condition someone has may affect their relationships and sex life e.g. depression often reduces sexual desire, some people's relationships are put under strain by MH conditions and it is important for a doctor to find out how a condition affects a patient.

Thanks for everyones responses. Was very curious. I've been seeing psych team for year and half now this is the first its been brought up.

I went to see my GP & gynaecologist many years ago for sexual pain.
I was asked the other day by my psych about if i use contraception (im practically a nun!).
Week later talking about self harm with social worker I admitted to genital self harm, then had conversation about how this could be painful during sex, how do i manage it and the original muscle pain conversation was brought up as if she knew already.
They know I have a probable history of sexual abuse though I havent disclosed anything (long story).

Just interested to know.
