OCD, Social Anxiety Disorder, Depression. Help!

So I have been diagnosed with OCD and social anxiety disorder through getting help for my depression and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions on where to go from here. I'm on the waiting list for therapy but that could take months so in the mean time any help would be greatly apriciated. The GP is keeping me on the Flouxetine since it has helped in the past and told me if I have any problems to let him know so he can consider changing them. Just not sure what to do now whilst waiting for my therapy to come through.

well, first, for ocd, the ideal therapy to get is ERP, Exposure Response Prevention, which falls under the CBT category, but has some differences. it involves facing fears in small doses until you're no longer effected by that thing, and then facing something a little bit harder, and then a little bit harder. it is tough, but it is generally the most effective.

the social anxiety treatment that i did was part ERP and part thought challenging and changing my mindset. i did a lot of practice changing cognitive distortions.... again, the idea is to slowly expand your comfort zone. doing the treatment work is going to be uncomfortable. in ERP you purposely put yourself in the uncomfortable situation for long enough that you get used to it.

there are some self help book and apps to do ERP that you could try... www.ocfoundation.org has some good lists i think

this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.

The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.

PM me anytime, I love getting messages :)

Thank you, that site is really helpful thankfully it looks like I'm on the less severe end of OCD so hopefully it will be manageable for me.
