I am currently:
BPD episode or Bipolar episode???

I make so many threads here I'm sorry you guys just understand a lot more that RL people.

Basically my symptoms have been: racing thoughts, gratuitous thoughs, loads of creative and business type ideas, lots of energy with spurts of hyperactivity (I can just keep going and going and going), poor apetite and poor disturbed sleeping pattern.
Yet I also feel low in my mood, I keep bursting into tears and keep thinking I want to go to my room and hide because everything is so overwhelming.
I have been a bit confused too and some paranoid hallucinations.
I am still managing to function but I am struggling.

I am diagnosed bipolar with traits of BPD.
I feel both manic and depressed yet on the outside it could look like like it's a bpd unstable mood. There have been some really stressful things going on at home so this could be ther trigger for the manic/depressive episode I'm currently having or it could be that I'm feeling like this because my BPD side is being reactive.

I have never felt both high and low like this before, so I don't know if it is bipolar or bpd? Does anyone know more/have any advice?

I am going to call my CPN tomorrow so my team will know I just want to know what to expect. X

What if you demedicalise it all? What does that leave you with, emotionally?

Stress really can cause mood to be unstable, whatever the clinical diagnosis.

If you want to compartmentalise it, if the source/stressor is relationship/attachment related, it could perhaps be classified as Borderline related, or if it's just in an up and down tangle with no abandonment etc stuff tied in, it could be more Bipolar related.

But really, the most important thing is to understand your feelings, where they come from [not what diagnosis they come from], and what helps. That's my take on it, anyway. :)

Thanks so much for your reply.

I know it does not matter what the diagnosis is but that doesn't stop me feeling like I need to understand in order to treat it. Like if it's bpd related I might be able to manage it myself with some of my work books but if it is bipolar I may need a medication change so I want to prepare my mind for that.

I don't think it is attachment related stress. I'm basically stressed because I'm about to move house and feel like there is a lot to sort out and it's costing a lot.
My mum has also been depressed lately so I have been having to care for her which is put stress on me with the move.

Thanks though x

Sometimes stress is 'simply' stress, and can intensify what is already there.

Thanks you.

I have been in touch with my CPN and she is going see me on Thursday. That's only 2 days away so I just need to keep to doing sensible things and following my relapse prevention plan.

Thanks for your reply guys. Much appreciated x

I hope you can keep safe until you see them. I haven't got much to say other than that, but I wanted to show my support.
