Olanzapine cumulative effects

I was prescribed Trazadone a few months back which i had a severe reaction to, i had rashes, severe dizziness and the inability to urinate which lead to me having a catheter for a week. After the catheter came out i was fine.

A month later i was prescribed Citalopram but after 4 days i experienced the same problem of difficulty in urinating, so i stopped them and things went back to normal.

Now, a month later i'm having trouble urinating again but am on NO new medication. I have to see a urologist, but apparently after a rectal examination my prostrate is enlarged. Gotta have a scan in a few weeks.

Anywho, went to the doctor again today but she doesn't think its serious and after telling her ive looked on google turned round and said its not cancer! Which is my biggest fear. she said the olanzapine which i take, which i have been taking since 2008 may have had a cumulative effect on me. This i find interesting.

Has anybody experienced cumulative effects on medication? Has anybody even heard of this what i'm experiencing? I'm tempted to just stop the olanzapine now, have been on some kind of medication with no break for 11 years so ya have to question what it's doing to your body ya know?

Thankyou

Went to A and E today as my urinary issues have gotten worse. I have an infection, but to my delight, the doctor at A and E as well as my GP both believe it is due to the Olanzapine! So i have been told to take some anti-biotics and to stop the Olanzapine or change medication. Fingers crossed that stopping it will make everything alright. He firmly told me it is not cancer. yay!

Since i haven't cut for 2 months and have been on psych meds non stop for 11 years, i think it's time to try and go without the olanzapine but i do know my mood is very very fragile atm so i think its best speak with the psych.

Just thought i'd update.

BTW this is CherryUK i simply changed my username.

Thankyou for hugs

Well, you certainly haven't had a lot of luck. :/
Can you chase up the psych appointment or move it forward? It seems pretty rubbish that you've suffered so badly with side-effects.

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.

I know it sucks.

Well the psychiatrist when i saw him last week said i no longer need to see him so i'm not on his books anymore. So i'm going to see the GP tomorrow and tell him what the doctor at A and E said about stopping the Olanzapine OR changing to something else. But like i said i've never tried being med free for 11 years so i'm very keen to go down that route and just try it. If i feel awful then i'll simply go on another drug, if not, and i feel fine then hoorah!

It is unwise to come off Olanzapine suddenly as it can cause the symptoms to come back rapidly. Can you taper off?

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I went to the doctor and she said it was fine for me to come off the tablets in one go as i was only on 5mg.

I Last took it Monday night, we're now wednesday night. I'm not sure wether it's going out of my system yet but i woke up feeling amazing. Everything is clear, it's not foggy, everything looks new and amazing. I sat in the garden for an hour just watching the sky and the birds and listening to all the sounds. It all feels completely new, its a really nice feeling. My anxiety is down and i just feel relaxed. It's like i'm looking at everything differnetly.

ive been on some kind of psych med continuously for 11 years which is probably why everything seems so new
