Exams

Arghh exam time. I'm currently doing my GCSE's, and I feel so incredibly worried, I'm a complete perfectionist and I have exams all week and next week.

So as it is a very stressful time, I thought I would make a thread for everyone currently going through this. Post any worries, and advice - for before, during or after the exams.

My tips are to revise (obviously) make tick lists of what you have to bring eg calculator, bottle of water etc..
Also personallyI find the smell of incense sticks to be very calming, so I rub a stick onto my sleeve and sniff it if I get anxious, heh it's awfully weird but I find it helpful.

Hope this helps.

Take care and good luck.

Apparently, 15 mins of revision, then a break, then15 mins more, works better than hours and hours. Good luck guys!!!

I find that if I just chill out and don't think about all of my exams just the next one up its alot easier to stay focused when revising. Next week I have Maths on monday and as far as I'm trying to see it is that tuesday doesn't exist until i've finished the maths exam had a bit of a laugh with some friends n then when I'm chilled I'll think about English on Tuesday.
One exam at a time.
take care

hand up who else failed their geography GCSE today?
anyone?

lol, i dont think i did that bad, but for my (or more specifically, my family) anything below and A* is not good enough
oh well
lol

on a day where i odnt have exams i am doing 6t hours revision
when i do have an exam i do 4 hours
and i have pretty much burnt out
so i would suggest that that amount is too much
but the best way to revise is make a timetable and stick to it
ike exactly when u are gonna revise
and exactly when u wil have a break
cos it gives u somehting to aim for (i.e. u can look forward to ur breaks)

Hey everyone, I'm just taking a short RYL break before Neighbours comes on, yes I'm very sad.

Anyway, I had my maths exam today, I was so incredibly worried about it, even though it didn't matter if I failed as I had a B last year, but still anxiety is nasty.

Well here's some ideas (please feel free to add to this because I'm not so good at this)

Write down everything that is worrying you (best to do that before the exam, not much good during!)

Usually I find reading the graffiti on the exam desks beforehand really comforting, keeps you entertained and takes your mind off the serious situation, unfortunately today mine had all the writing sanded off.

Make sure you have everything you could possibly need, like I said earlier tick-lists help.

If you have long hair, be sure to keep it off your face, nothing's more distracting than hair getting in your way.

Umm.. I can't think of much more, but I know there are loads of good tips and ideas on the BBC website, you know the Onion Street bit, I would post the link but I'm not sure if that is allowed.

Ok, so anyway, deep breaths, if you have any spare time look over your work, especially the bits you find difficult, in a few weeks time it will all be over, and if you put the time in now it will be worth it.
And besides, what's the worse that could possibly happen? If you fail, you can always do it again.

So keep a positive attitude and do your best.

Good advice. Also, making sure you've had something to eat and have drunk plenty of water (although not too much - you don't want to need the loo!) helps to give you more energy and focus better too.

I've got 2 french AS exams tomorrow. 3 3/4 hours! Argh! *panic*

Good luck everyone x

I'm taking exams too - I suggest finding something you love, something you always look forward to (Neopets for me - saddo) and then give yourself a time to go on their. Then, revise until that time but have music on or something so it doesn't feel like a punishment!

Also, talk about it with someone else, out loud, even if it's right before the exam, it helps set it in your memory (usually short-term but that's fine!).

Practice papers are good to do for revision. If you take it slowly and do a question at a time they can be a good confidence booster.

Sam with in the exam. Go through the questions one at a time, and if there's one you can't do just pass over it and go onto one you know. You can always come back to that question later.
(That's what I do anyway)

Good luck everyone <3

I'm a very, very sad person when it comes to revision. I make a revision timetable and i separate my subjects over a period of time so that I cover everything on the syllabus. Everyday I get up bright and early, eat breakfast and then as my family leave for school/ work i get changed into my workout gear and do a 30 minute workout- really sets me up for the day! Then i do 45 mins revision with a 15 minute break till i cover everything on the timetable. Bit of music in the background..i get really into my revision! Big posters, flash cards, past papers, acting even!! Its all good. I'm doing AS levels now and it worked for GCSEs!!
Good luck everyone, you'll do great!xx
