leaving CAMHS...I don't want to go!
Hi,
Ermm basically I finish with CAMHS next week and I have no idea what to write in the card saying Thank you I appricate everything you've done isn't enough. I'm doing one for both the psychiarist and and psychotherapist. My psychiartist is actually leaving the serivce the same time as me and i thought maybe i could write something like wishing her luck but that still doesn't seem enough.
Also do you have any ideas of what i could get them both as a present. Also i havent broken down and said i'm fine about leaving but she keeps saying if you werent 18 and were younger i would of liked to carry on and i told them about abuse that happend a while ago and because i leave the end of July She keeps saying we won't have time to talk about it and i really don't know. I'm suppose to go to adult services but i can't go through stuff like psychotherapy again. But theres still this voice and everything.
but if i'm honest everything changing at the minuet makes me want to give up. Anywho please let me know your gift ideas and what to write in card. Thanks for reading.
much love xxx

Maybe write about some of the ways they've helped you? i.e. since being under camhs I've become xyz and so on?

I agree with above. I would just say how much you have appreciated their support and wish them the very best.

Ive also recently had discussions about leaving Camhs when I'm 18 and can completely sympathise with how you're feeling... I can relate to feel like giving up and not wanting to move to adult services etc but I suppose some things just have to happen. I think it's probably a good idea to try and discuss this with them though if you have chance? They might be able to offer you some tips/advice on how to make the move a little easier?
As for the card, I would follow the ideas above. Sometimes people can't see the effcects they're actions have, and a little insight into the way you have benefitted would probably be really appreciated! Presents, I'm unsure of... Possibly something that could symbolise your time there? Or just something that can last a while to give them a continuous reminder of your appreciation?
I hope the move goes well, good luck!

If I was you I would just write.
Thanks you so much for your help and support.
I work in the NHS and personal messages are not always necessary, sometimes just a plan thank you is enough.

I went to CAMHS.. They didn't really help with anything to be honest, they discharged me when I wasn't any better anyway, apparently I didn't turn up to my sessions.. Even though I did.
Anyway you could put something like 'thank you for all of your support' or something like that

Honestly in the card i just think you need to write it from the heart - a heartfelt thankyou is more appreciated than a lot of emotionless words.
I hope the transfer goes well for you into adult services - I was forced to end my attendance at CAMHS around a year ago - and just refused to go to my sessions for the last month or so because i was so angry!!! So well done you for still going, allow them to help you with the transition :) xx

Recently my psychiatrist got moved and I've just finished writing a thank you letter. I found it really hard to write because it's the same with me, saying 'thank you' just seems pathetic after all he has done for me, but I said that in the letter and just said thank you anyway, cos what else can you say really? I said a bit about why I was so grateful I'd worked with him. Maybe do something similar.
