medication question

a few weeks ago, i quit taking meds (antipsychotics and antidepressants) because i knew they weren't going to work. none of the meds did. i have a chip inside me that prevents them from working. i know my psych doc won't believe me. that's why i didn't tell her why i stopped taking meds. i just told her i don't want to take them. but she said that it's either the hospital or meds :/ so now i started taking them again. i don't understand. can she actually do that? i really don't want to take them. why should i take something that won't help? doesn't it make more sense if i just don't take them? i just want to know what my rights are. can i refuse to take meds?? i really want to stop taking them but i'm scared because my psych doc will be really angry this time.

Yes, she can. Tbh, they can pretty much do what they want if they think you're thinking irrationally, or not making rational judgements, or are a danger to yourself or others.

It they're having no effect, there's no harm in taking them, right? What makes you want to stop them so much?

On the other hand, it might be worth asking about trying other medication if you think that might help more.

well, i'm not taking the meds i was taking before so she changed my meds. but i know they won't work as well. it just seems so much more rational to just take out the chip. i just feel like if i take the meds, they will cause more harm than good. they won't work. why should i meds if i don't need them or if they won't work? i just don't understand. i hate that she forces me to take them. i'm not so sure if i need them as well...

What meds would you like to take, or none at all? A doctor wouldn't prescribe a medication if it did more harm than good, (aside from side effects/reactions). They obviously feel the pros outweigh the cons.

Where is the chip and how are you planning to get it out? It might be worth discussing it with a doctor or something.

Being forced to take them is horrible; but the other option is being inpatient. Rather than refuse outright, it's probably best to talk to her about your options, what you're comfortable with.
