50 Shades of Grey.

Has anyone else read this?

I was appalled with myself for a short while for reading this, my brain telling me "THIS IS TERRIBLE WRITING, PLEASE THROW THIS IN THE CLOSEST AVAILABLE FIRE-PRODUCING MECHANISM IMMEDIATELY", but now I'm finishing the second book, and while I'm still inwardly cursing myself, I've accepted that maybe I just needed a good dose of smut to balance out the over-workings of my brain during all other parts of the day.

Also, I've become somewhat fond of the characters, dammit.

It's like pop music or crack, I know it's not good for my brain, possibly making me dumber and definitely less productive, but I just can't stop!!!

Has anyone else read this long enough to not chuck it out of a moving car? I'm just curious for other opinions on the matter.

LOL knicker tickler!!! That's amazing!! I just lol'd as well haha. XD

I've been reading it at work in between calls and my coach was like "Isn't that like a porn-o book?" I stuck my nose in the air jokingly and was like "It's called an 'erotic novel'!"

Not my genre.
But, it's one of those books that has ALL the reservations on at work. One of those ones we have to tell the customers "You can reserve it, but it may take a while!"

Doesn't sound like something I would enjoy. Too much porn ;)

It's like twilight but if sex had been allowed.

It started off as a twilight fanfiction. Then got taken down. Then got published.

I've not read it, but I have it on PDF. I like to know my enemy.

My mum has read it and with that knowledge, I refuse to read it. Too creepy.

I strongly suspect this book is horrifically bad.

Then I read this review http://bizzybiz.blogspot.com/2012/06....html?spref=fb
which is hillarious and kind of confirmed my suspiscions. And now a small part of me wants to read it to see how bad it is, but a bigger part of me doesn't cos I need to get cracking on the book club book.

It's great. I read all of them in one evening. It's funny but also points out just how wrong the main characters' relationship is, and how badly the book mis-portrays (which is totally a word) people who are into BDSM.

I already have some porn-in-books. I need no more. I find mine hilarious, its just so bad, the author uses the same descriptions constantly, andthe situations are plain daft

He was no longer jean valjean but no. 24601 -les miserable

Some of life's mysteries will never be solved, such as why, after spending an entire evening listenong to Bach, do I find myself humming "the birdie song".......

I really wish my work internet didn't block this site, so I could see what you are talking about!

I just lol'd like a mawfugga when I read this though: http://taxaholic.com/2012/05/22/fift...-erotic-novel/
Completely accurate, I'm totally aware of the fact, I just feel the need to finish the trilogy anyway. XD

And yes, it totally does 'mis-portray' (^__^) BDSM.
EL James.. Beysh needs to be taught a lesson... Har har.

and Scaredy-Cat, you're so right, and this author totally does that. I mean, how many different ways can a girl come in the same book via text? Apparently the same way just about every time. XD

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.

I downloaded it in PDF form to see what everyone was getting such a boner over. I'm 2 chapters in and it is awful, cringey, terrible writing, but maybe I'll change my mind when it gets sexy :P
