Different 'types' of cutting
Does anybody else here have more than one 'type' of cutting depending on how l they're feeling?
If I'm feeling empty and nothingness, I make one cut that's deep and more than usually needs stitches. When I'm sad or angry, it's superficial cuts covering half to the whole of my forearm.
I'm not sure why this is, the pain and bleeding of the deeper cuts seem to resolve the emptiness I feel, whereas when I'm sad or angry, I cut over and over in a sort of impulsive state.
Can anyone relate to this at all?

Yeah. I have different tools, but even when using the same ones, there are different types for when I'm angry, or when I'm calm. When I'm calm I often extensively self injure, but superficial, neat parallel lines, whereas when I'm angry, it might be a few deep random ones.
It's funny that we're 'opposites' so to speak in terms of that.
But anyway, been almost 2 months since last cut, so hopefully I can keep that up. :)

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do. We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us. We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I only have the one tool (well lots of them but the same thing I mean).
It is odd (the oppositeness) but it just shows the differences in different people lol.
2 months is really good :) Im not a daily cutter, goes from 3 times a week to possibly once a month. Depends how I'm feeling I guess, the sad/angry cutting is not as common for me as the empty cutting. I don't yet think about how long I've gone since I know I'll do it again anyway. Maybe one day I'll be able to count the days etc like you. You sound really proud of yourself, and that sounds like a wonderful feeling :)
Keep it up! :)

It's the same for me, I usually end up with one deeper cut when I'm more calm and feel empty. When I'm angry or anxious I end up with lots of little superficial ones. Also, when I do make a deeper one I always kind of expect it, like I know it's going to happen. Not quite like planning it but it's sort of similar, maybe it's because the urge builds more slowly.
The other kind just sort of happens without any premeditation, it's like when you're in the mall and you start getting anxious and so you end up running to the public washrooms to cut. I never plan on it, the urge just kind of hits me.
I don't know if that makes any sense or not...

If the urge is sudden, it's because I feel really angry so there'll usually be a few or lots of them.
If it's something I've been planning to do then it's 1 very deep one, which I do very slowly to avoid structures Although last time I hit an artery & that isn't cool!
If I do it for the pain, which I haven't done in a while, I make very shallow/superficial cuts, which sting like a mofo.
