I lost weight on quietapine once yet a lot of people get weight gain on it.
To be honest, from my experience, it depends very much on the person.
I was aripiprzol briefly and it made me really weak and I wanted to eat all the time, yet it is classed as less likely to cause weight gain.
I think it is trial and error with psych meds.
My best advice would be to start on a low dose and go up to the effective dose very slowly it means you, ultimately, suffer less side effects and can, to an extent, manage any appitite changes.

I have dyslexia so please excuse my poor spelling and sometimes poor understanding.
Aripiprazole (abilify) didn't cause weight gain with me. It didn't work for me, but there were no weight gain issues. Olanzapine made me gain ridiculous amounts of weight within days and I refused to take it. Quietapine (seroquel) also made me have some trouble with weight, although it was manageable. I was on that the longest. I also didn't have trouble with Geodon but I know someone else who did.
So yeah, I think Abilify is the one least likely to cause weight gain that I know of. It's technically a mood stabilizer but I think they use it as an antipsychotic too. Really the meds all affect people different though, so it's hard to tell until you try it. Are you wanting your doctor to switch you from a anti-psychotic you're already on? Or are you in the process of being put on one from not having one?
Stereotypes are the epitome of human laziness.

Do not, ever ever, go for a med just because of it's weight gain or loss.
NO NO NO! Meds are to help the mental mind. A med may cause you to gain weight, but that weight -can- be avoided by simple exercise - No, you don't need to go hyper with exercise, just normal walking / jogging / etc.
Meds are to help the mind. Not the body! If the mind is bad, the body will never improve. Help the mind, and the body will follow suit.
Oh what a beautiful day for us.
We have been looking for ways to trust
Things will unravel the way they must.
And when you see it it's simply the greatest of things.
You'll be grateful the rest of your life.
Just because an antipsychotic has weight gain listed as side effect does not necessarily mean that you will gain weight on it. I am Clopixol which has weight gain as a side effect and I havent gained weight on it.
Like TinCoin said, you and your professional should choose what is best based on your illness/symptoms, and not because of it's weight gaining qualities.

Asenapine (Saphris) has a weight neutral effect, according to my psychiatrist. And I am on that for an off-label reason.
Asenapine isnt licensed for the UK, where the OP is.

I think you should choose a medication based on how helpful it is for you, not because it could cause weight gain.
As said, medications have to be listed with everything that could potentially happen, side effects wise, but that doesn't mean it'll happen to you.
Everyone is different, someone could gain weight on one medication, and another person doesn't gain any weight on the same medication, we are all different, so I would go with what could help you the best.
If you do happen to experience side effects you are not comfortable with and affects you badly, then act on that if it happens, discuss it with your professional, but don't think you'll gain weight because others have, we're all different.
