Periods restarting..... distressing COULD BE TMI

I was on risperidone for something like 5 years and it stopped my periods.
I've come off risp and am now on an injection of something else and my periods have re started.
I'm finding it really, really hard to handle and I'm not sure exactly sure why.
I had a couple of really light periods over the past two months but this month is full on period and stomach ache etc... I feel like ****.
I don't want them.
I don't want to be reminded I'm a woman and the sex side of stuff I think.

Can anyone relate to this?

I thought may be i could ask the gp about contraception which stops periods. anyone know anything about this?

BAstard Periods.

I think your GP would be a good first stop as I know there are various contraceptive options available some as simple as running the pill back to back whilst others like the injection are easier to remember.

I really struggle with having my periods as I don't like being reminded of sexuality and womanhood among other things. I find them really upsetting and triggering every month so I can definitely see where you're coming from. I've never actively tried to stop them but it's true that there are options that will stop them. The pill is definitely one, and the coil (intrauterince device) can help to stop them completely. It would definitely be worth bringing this up with your GP.

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time just now. Try to be good to yourself if you can, eat something comforting, watch a film you know you'll like, have a bath, talk to a friend.

thanks for your input. i will speak to my gp and see if there's anything that will help. i am severely overweight and i think i'm right in saying that you can't go on the pill if you are very overweight, but may be the injection is an option.

thanks again

I'm on the contraceptive injection, and I don't get periods any more. LOVE IT!

It's great that you will see your GP. There are so many different contraception options out there and hopefully you will find the right one for you.

I'm sorry this is so difficult for you. xx

my gp has given me some progesterone tablets. i've to take two a day and see if that stops my next period. i might have to go up to three tablets a day if it doesn't.

he was ok - my gp. asked me why i wanted them stopped was it just cos they weren't convenient? i just said because i just don't want them.

so i hope these tablets work
