Should she have done something?

Hey there :)

I have been on 50mg Sertraline for at least 6 months if not longer, and yet my GP hasn't asked me about it, changed it, assessed it or anything since I was first prescribed them...is this normal? What can I do about it? I was in hospital on the 1st march and I have been trying to make an appt to see her since the 3rd..but she has been away and too busy for me to book anything..its really getting on my nerves because my meds clearly aren't doing much and I'm fed up of waiting to see her.

I don't know a lot about meds, assessment of meds, etc etc.

However, if it's bothering you, and you have concerns about them for whatever reason then I think it's sensible to be chasing people up about it.

Keep chasing her up, but if it's really not possible and it's all getting silly with dates, etc, then can you not ask to see another health professional who can look at your prescription and such?

Keep at it, xx

I agree that you should push for an appointment or ask to speak to another GP if you feel comfortable doing that. Do you have a psychiatrist? Sometimes GPs will refer you to a psychiatrist who will review your medication regularly.

If your GP is away or too full up you will just have to wait till she has an appointment available.
You could always see another GP? Any GP onthe surgery can access your notes.

Your meds may not be helping but if her or any other doctor has not seen you since your hospitalisation she will not know that.

The surgey will have recived a letter about your admission to hospital but unless you follow that up with an appointment they will not persue it any furthure.

Basically if they don't see you they will assume your fine.

If your that concerned about your meds I would just make an appointment to see a another GP.

That does sound wrong that she hasn't monitored your medication at all. In my experience the first few months are important but for SSRIs you should really be seen at least once a month to discuss the medication. It may be that you need to see another gp, as she is so booked or absent, this might not be a bad thing though as it seems she lets things slip as a result. I think you should definitely see someone else and hopefully they will better monitor your meds.
