Just curious to see how many people here speak different languages. English is my first language but I'm also learning French and Spanish (language nerdddd)
Hablas espanol? Parles-tu le francais?

Normalement je parle l'anglais mais, j'apprend le francais au lycée :) I love French :) And I know a little bit of Welsh as it's compulsory here in Wales even though it's a dying language.
Well the majority of us Welshies just speak English. I think it was because of the industrial revolution and loads of (non Welsh speaking) people moved here for work. A lot of people in North Wales still speak Welsh but English is still dominant. I'm not too bothered though, I always hated Welsh at school. And I apologise for speaking French ^ *runs off to look over rules again* hehe :)
I know a bit of French, German, Scots Gaelic, Croatian and Polish. But really not a substantial amount. French and German is from school, Scots Gaelic from family members, Polish from learning a bit on my own in order to relate better to service users at a previous job and Croatian from words a friend taught me.
Someone I work with at Chelsea is multilingual and it really impresses me, a great skill to have when dealing with customers from all over the world. I think it's a really nice touch

My degree was essentially Spanish and Politics, so my Spanish is pretty good, although I'm more confident with my written than spoken language. I have enough Portuguese and Gallego to survive, I understand much more than I will speak, although I lived in Santiago de Compostela for a year and more or less spoke Gallego over Spanish (Castellano).
I use makaton signing day to day at work (I'm not skiving, today is my half day this week) but my BSL is terrible, bordering on appalling. I do try, though.
Oh and (obvs) I have English as my first language.

I know a little Japanese (I am still in the process of learning it but I can watch a Japanese movie or anime without having to have subtitles, I can speak some of it but it is a bit difficult to learn all the different ways one word can be pronounced and mean something entirely different) but that is about it as far as foreign languages go although I am fluent in sign language (learned it in middle school since my friend was deaf so it was the only way we could communicate without her having to always read my lips or write notes).
I know certain inappropriate words in Spanish and french but that is about it.

I could probably get by with German if I had a dictionary with me.
I used to speak two languages when I was a child but now I have forgotten it all.
I want to learn Italian and French again.
I learnt German to GCSE and French in school when I was younger. Other than that, it's the odd word in different languages and not much else... and English, of course!
I used to be pretty good at German although only to GCSE and translating Rammstein songs level. I used to teach myself Finnish but I haven't really done anything since I was like 17 although my Ipod is still in Finnish.
I cannot speak English at all and mostly speak in a random mix of made up and rubbish.
(Yes the last thing is a bit of a lie...)

I can acquire food and beer in about 7 languages. Chinese is probably my strongest second language (except for the reading n writing) and I used to be pretty good at Slovak although I've forgotten loads. Russian is currently doing my head in. It's taken me 6 months to get to a level where the kiosk ladies have stopped yelling at me.

There are a lot of welsh speakers in wales. I can't go out to the shops without hearing someone speaking welsh. And I live in cardiff, in the north and the west it's even more common.
I speak some welsh. enough to understand people sometimes, not enough to speak it properly.
