I was just brought to the hospital for the first time.

I was contemplating suicide, so my boyfriend called my school's crisis people annnnnd here I am. I don't know how I feel right now. I thought I could wait until March for therapy, but clearly I was wrong. I feel like I'm weaker now than I thought I was before.

I'm not really sure what I want from this thread. I guess I could use some reassurance that everything will be okay and it's not the end of the world.

Yeah I remember the first time I went to the hospital. It was really scary, but it turned out to be really helpful for me. I was able to get my meds worked out and get my feet on the ground. And if you're not in touch with a therapist, they can help you with that too. Just take this opportunity to work on what you need to and get help with what you need to. It's not about being weak or strong--everyone's weak sometimes, and there's no shame in it :) Don't waste your time feeling guilty...just do what you need to do! *hugs*

Thank you for the advice :) I was discharged at six this morning which was good. I have a couple of appointments with student health this week to make sure everything goes okay. I'm just sort overwhelmed with everything right now. I don't feel like it really happened, and I feel like everything should just be back to the way it was before even though that isn't the case. Yeah, it's weird to get back in your regular life, and it's like it never happened because you don't want to necessarily tell people. It's like "Where were you this weekend?" "Oh, I went crazy and ended up at the funny farm." Yeah....no. Definitely helps to get support from some people you trust. I'm glad you have those appointments so you can't slide back into old bad habits. My first therapist was one with student health, then he referred me to someone I could see more permanently who specialized in my issues. I guess it's good to find comfort in the routine of student life but don't neglect the issues that sent you to the hospital. Be gentle with yourself, always! *hugs*
