Forgive me if I am behind with the times but it's been years since I been to see a film!
When exactly did it become a rip of to go to the cinema?!
I'm sat here waiting for the film to start after paying £20 to get in for one adult and two under fives then cost me another £4.20 for a regular popcorn! :-O
Its been that way for ages now, its far too expensive to the point you may as well wait and get the dvd. Although they have cheaper rates with the orange wednesday, going in the morning, going in a weekday etc.
Also never buy cinema food, so much cheaper to buy it in a shop first.

I usuallu smuggle food in or dont bother, not that i go that often. Once when we did buy food there we enepded up spending over a tenner on pick and mix which was obscene

If you get dla you can get a card thing that can get you and a carer in for the price of one person, i think you got to pay about £5 for the card but it lasts a year

I can afford the cinema because i'm a student so it only costs £4.50 ish whatever the time of day. But even then it's a rare occassion, usually if i wait a month or two I can see big film at campus cinema for £3 without membership.
I think the cinema has been expensive since I've been paying for myself so last 6 years at least.
Where I live, we have an independent cinema so it's cheaper - though it comes with it's downfalls, ie the film is almost always about a week away from DVD anyway!
I was in Manchester last weekend and couldn't believe the prices.
I haven't been in over 5 years odd but thought I would take the kids. I don't ever remember it being so expensive!
But my kids had fun and that's all that matters. :)
I totally get the anti-social part of it, if I was ever to go on a date it wouldn't be on my list of ideas at all! But I still like going, even if it is hardly ever.
It's ridiculous! I remember when it used to be about £4 if that to see a film. Now, it's almost £20 for me and my son, plus food, plus getting there! URG!
I've taken food in to cinemas occassionally, but my local cinema also seraches bags on the odd occassion, so....
Doing nice things with friends or family is becoming harder and harder.
It is pricey if you pay per film, but if you like going a lot then an unlimited card can be good. (£15 or so a month, see as many films as you want.)
Oh my god that's a brilliant idea. I wonder if they have that kind of thing in the USA. Must inquire next time I go.
I'm usually able to save some money by going on the one night per week that my cinema has tickets at matinee prices even in the evening. I also can get a student discount (but not for much longer T_T), which shreds another dollar off the price.
In the US there are also $2/$3 theatres that show films that have just left regular cinemas. So they don't show the newest films, but it's still a good bargain. :)
The CEA card is worth having and Ive found it can be used in the big uk cinema chains and even some of the independent ones.
If you don't get DLA orange wednesdays is also a good way to save money but I find some cinemas inflate the price on a wednesday!
