People on trains/coaches?

For those who use coaches/trains

Do you ever wonder with the people on them where there going and why?

I like looking at the reserved seating and just wondering why there going there what is there life like there? what they do there and stuff.

One reserved seat was Plymouth to Glasgow Central and that is a 12 hour plus journey.

Also if people ask you where your going and what you do, do you make up stuff or do you tell truth?

If its short journey I will just say meeting up with friends but if its a long one I normally say I'm studying nursing or something that makes me sound cleverer than I am lol.

I do this a lot, and in coffee shops too. I sit by the window and make up stories for the people going past; what they're like, why they are walking past at that exact time etc. I often find myself falling a bit in love with people on public transport if I see them often, like there was a guy on my train to college in the mornings who wore a beanie hat and massive headphones and was always reading some new book. I sometimes wonder if he still gets that train every day now I'm out of college and at uni.
If someone asked me I'd probably be honest. I'd be tempted to say something a bit more interesting but then terrified I might suddenly cross paths with them in my life sometime later, like they turned out to be my new lecturer or something haha.

Not really, if I'm honest. I often people-watch, but never really go any further than that. Everyone has their reasons.

As for people talking to me, I'd just tell the truth. No point in lying to them. Although I'd probably be wondering why they were talking to me in the first place, especially if I didn't give any indication (eye contact, smile, etc) that I wanted to talk.

I tend to just get cross with the other passengers - especially the ones who spread their stuff across two or three seats when it's a busy train.

I don't like public transport because it makes me anxious so a lot of my thoughts are things based on anxiety, praying no one will sit next to me or engage me in conversation and that sort of thing lol.

Sometimes I wonder where people are going and why, and people watching can be interesting. I always plan on reading or something to pass time when travelling somewhere, but I always forget and end up staring out of the window watching people, places etc.

My dad makes up scenarios for the people on the train with him. Like if the world were to end and they were the only people alive how each of them might act.
It's cool.
I just make up random stories like "She just murdered her husband and ate her baby and is now running away to Scotland to get a sex change so that no one will find her and because she loves the Loch Ness monster, and knows that Nessie only take it up the arse." or something.
I'm weird.
I'm also filthy.

I think it depends how I feel! I ended up chatting to a stranger the other day because she nearly missed the train and was out of breath, we ended up changing train and sitting together on the next train. I spoke to a dog on the train before and then the owner decided to talk to me and it turned out he was some kind of aggressive pensioner who told me he had hit some really hard with his walking stick and made up an alibi....later I found out in the news that he had been charged!!! He scared me!!! Normally I sleep on public transport though, that is safest! :/

I'm always making conversation with people on our local bus but when i'm getting the coach/train to London i'm often praying no one will sit next to me (i like spreading out) and if they do sit next to me i wonder when they're getting off and who they're texting lol.

I know where pretty much everyone on the train is going so there's not much to suss out.

It's a commuter train to London and everyone's in suits. They are going to work. Dull.

The most excitement I get is when someone knocks over their coffee or falls asleep and starts snoring.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Yeah I do wonder about where people are going and / or background. I make assumptions as well. I don't lie about where I'm going. People often talk to me to ask a question about the transport or just natter about random stuff as if they just need someone to listen, wherever I go. I must seem approachable But sometimes I just wish they'd leave me alone, if tired or something heh.
Coaches have never seemed to have the same capacity for being social because of how the seats are arranged.

Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?

I got the train back yesterday from Liverpool to Plymouth and sat next to a very nice elderly lady who asked me where i was going etc, i told her the truth and she told me she was visiting her daughter :) It was a lovely conversation.

Although usually I can't wait until the person next to me will get off the train!

Also Laura I am going to Glasgow from Plymouth next month :P I am flying though! Couldn't deal with a 13 hour journey! Could get to South Africa in that :P Also it turned out to be cheaper to fly :O

Have you ever looked fear in the face and said "I just don't care"?

Some of the snippets of conversations on a bus or coach can be interesting, sometimes it's dull but sometimes I've overheard people talking about quite odd things.

Yeah me too. :P

I get a bit irritated if people come and sit next to me on the bus a couple of stops before I'm about to get off because then I feel bad about making them move after they've just sat down. xD

I do wonder where people are going. I have a lot of hospital appointments and get the bus there. I always think about what the other people who get off at the hospital are there for, whether they're visiting someone, are ill, etc.

Of course I'm sane, when trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

When I'm on the bus I sit on the seat sideways, put my headphones in and pretend I'm asleep until I miraculously wake up just before my stop. I'm a dick.
