I am currently:
Seroquel XR?

I just began taking Seroquel to help relax my thoughts and help me fall asleep. I've only taken it for two nights, but I can feel a difference. When I wake up it feels like I have a cold and slept the whole night with my mouth open, which is a little bit annoying but that I can deal with. My body is also waking myself up at exactly 10 hours after I took it. I feel better at night and I fall asleep so much easier and that is great. I do feel sleepy during the day until about 4 or 5 o'clock and then it's not too much longer until I take the med again. I'm only on 50 mg. Anyone else have it work too well? I'm just seeing my GP for meds but she's suggesting I go and see a psych to make sure we are on the right track and to get an evaluation to make sure there isn't something else underlying the depression and anxiety. THANKS!

I'm on seroquel XR and in my experience, the prolonged drowsiness will wear off. You may still get the sedating effects at night which I'm guessing is what you want but the sleepiness in the day, does tend to decrease as time goes on and your body gets used to it.

I used to be on 300mg per night although only take 50mg per night now. I still feel sedation even with the lower dosage also. It comes down to all sorts. To tell the truth you should consider how depressed you are. If you're down and don't feel as if you have the will to get out of bed or any need to, the chances are you'll give in to the sedation and stay in bed anyway. Likewise for if your body is tired, you're tired from working or if you've drank alcohol, your sleep can increase. I was always told the sedation would decrease over time, but it never did for me (I wish). Saying that, everybody's different.

Everything passes, everything changes. Just do what you think you should do.

I take 150mg at night. The first week of taking it I slept for 16 hours per day! The sleepiness gradually wore off:) I still sleep a lot better and I get a little dizzy in the mornings sometimes but it is worth it coz it is really helping my depression. The dry mouth has not worn off:( I wake up feeling like not only have I slept with my mouth open, but someone has 'hoovered' out all the saliva and made me lick a sandpit:) It's gross but bearable.
Good luck, hope it helps you too! Bx
