Lost my "get up and go!"

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for how to get motivation back?

I was on a combination of aripiprazole, citalopram, diazepam and zopiclone and it was working really well. Then I found out I'm pregnant and have been taken off the aripiprazole.

This is really affecting me, 1) Because it really helped to stabilize my moods, and with adding pregnancy hormones to the mix I'm just all over the place
and 2) The aripirazole really gave me a "get up and go" its an activator, and worked really well for me. Without it I'm struggling just to get out of bed.

I've voiced all these concerns to my GP but he says there isn't an alternative that is safe during pregnancy and I just have to cope.

What do you do to keep yourself motivated?

Thanks :)

Hey,

This must be a really turbulent time for you. As far as motivation goes, I try and write out lists of what I need to be doing. That can be motivating in itself, especially when you get to tick something off.

I would say though, don't be too hard on yourself. There is a lot going on for your body right now so don't try and force yourself to do too much. Maybe try and have a goal of completing a couple of things each day - like say getting out of the house for 10 minutes, or it may be that right now that is too much and you need to concentrate on actually being able to get out of bed. Take it slowly and maybe in time your motivation will build up a bit?

Set yourself small goals (especially if you can break down bigger things into smaller, attainable chunks) and allow yourself treats if you reach them. The bigger the goal, the better the treat.

That, and let someone else know - as having another person reasoning with you, can work wonders for motivation. There are times I wouldn't get out of bed with out my bf talking me into it.

What dose of aripiprazole were you on? Are you on PRN zopiclone or daily? What about diazepam, what dose are you on?

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I was on 15mg of aripirazole (daily) and I'm currently on (roughly) 6mg diazepam daily and 7.5mg zopiclone every 2 days.

Did the doctor say it's ok to take diazepam while pregnant?

He looked it up and said it can cause withdrawal in the baby, but in this case the benefit outweighs the risk.
He said it would cause a lot of stress if I came off it as I've been on it for nearly 2 years, so is leaving me on it at the moment.

Ok, that is a wise choice of your doctor. I hope the baby will be ok.
