lap-band anyone?

Hi guys. First off, I hope this is in the right place, if need be, please move it.

Ok, for those of you who don't know, I'm large. As in a BMI of X..I've been fat pretty much since I was like...11ish. But you don't need my entire backstory. Anyway, I'm going to be finding a new doctor soon, and one of the things I will discuss with them is the possibility of becoming a candidate for the lap-band surgery. My question is, is there anyone on here who's had the surgery? If so, would you tell me your experience? Best thing you've done? Cons of having the surgery? Pros of getting it? Thanks. I don't know how many, if any responses I will get. But I was curious. Obviously, if the doctor wants me to start with a nutritionist or something, I'll do that.

Thanks!

You have to remember that those scars are not who you are - they don't define you as a person. They're just..marks. Footprints from a different time...a different life.

Surgery is a last option and its not handed out on a plate, being american he system is different but would your insurers pay for it.

If the doc has any sense he will advise you try medication, therapy and a nutritionist input before even suggesting surgery.

Good luck
