North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has died...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-16239693
Now that the "Dear Leader" has popped his clogs, will it make any difference to North Korea? In my personal opinion, not one little bit. The people will still be starving, South Korea will still be threatened, and his influence will still grow, just like his fathers did.
I may be rough on him, but it's for a reason. He was a bastard to his people and he made them starve so he and his cohorts could live it up.
I'm being harsh here, but the world is better off without him

I was just reading about this. I don't suppose anything will get any better for North Korea due to his death.

They already know. From what I've heard, he died on the 17th and NK's state-run news service reported it today.

Seriously hope the son isn't even worse.

I don't think it's going get better, I can't see how it could. But then I've never been an optimist.

It will stay the same and his son will do no better.
I just finished reading a book called 'the aquariums of pyongyang' would recommend it!x

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.

Won't make a slight bit of difference. His son will be just as bad, if not worse. It really depends on how prepared he is to take over, and if it can be done so that the country remains somewhat stable.
North Korea as a country is pretty fascinating though.

I'm really hoping that without his personality cult to keep the regime going it will collapse... But that's wishful thinking. Although his son hasn't been exposed to the public for very long (only really the last year I believe?) they'll probably rev up the propaganda machine to maximum.

I'm not sure it will be the son that needs worrying about. I'm more concerned with one of the generals staging a coup and causing a bit of chaos.
But either way, unless the 20ish year old kid is far more liberal and savvy enough to have hidden it, things will not change and if anything get worse.

Its fascinating to see satellite pics of North Korea and South Korea at night. North Korea is black since they haven't developed infrastructure like the south.

As people have already said Kim Jung-un is just as crazy as his belated dad.
It may possible get worse. But what I've heard/read Kim Jung-un is a big fan of the NBA.
He died of roneriness.
