SI Question - Bad Wound Treatment?

So..... (sorry for posting again)
Had my third trip of the week to a&e yesterday, I took myself to a different a&e cos I couldn't face seeing the same a&e staff for the third time in a week.
I would say the wound was of the same severity as the others this week (for which I received stitches) but all the nurse did was stick a big dressing over it and sent me on my way. Well I came home and took the dressing straight off and sterile striped the 2 gaping wounds on my arm myself and redressed them.
What I'm asking is do you think the treatment I received was right? Should I get them looked at by someone else?
Any opinions would be greatly received
X

There's never any harm in getting a second opinion.

Agreed, never any harm in a second opinion. At the same time, I'd like to think your healthcare professional can be trusted. I'm often surprised by how skin heals-- it's not always what you think, not always the same (location and size/depth matter). Second opinion can only help, especially if only for your piece of mind.

Yep, it may be worth getting it checked out again but I personally only would if it re-opens or if the steri-strips don't hold it.

The steris haven't held and its really uncomfortable. I know that sounds silly but it feels different to how they usually feel, like swollen? I'm already on antibiotics for another wound so don't think I could have an infection. I don't know?

It could potentially be infected but if the steri's haven't closed it then it may be that it is just because of it gaping and the general healing as well as it potentially being pulled around a bit when you were trying to close it. I'd recommend you get it looked at. If you live in England then you could go to a Minor Injuries Unit or go back to A&E; maybe even the same one you went to last, point out that you went there before and you are still having problems and you'd like to see someone else to whom you saw before and see.

As it's been a while now there will be less they can do but if it really needs it (depending on the severity/ position and a few other things) then they may be able to close it back together after removing the 'dirty/old' tissue at the edges of the wound.
