Have you tried relaxation CDs - the sort where you have to listen to what they're saying, not the sort with calm music? I find them very helpful (though now I can do it myself in my head because I've listened so often!).

But for the negative thoughts - are you seeing a counsellor? That can help you get things sorted in your head. And you haven't ruined your life, things can get better (I know that from experience).

Have you seen your Dr? They can diagnose if you could benefit from meds, and should be able to refer you for counselling.

In what way do you feel you have ruined your life?

You can always make new friends, do some volunteer work, enrol on a course or night class. You don't have to be alone.

If you haven't already, it would be a good idea to visit your doctor, they will be able to help you with sleeping and possibly refer you onto a CMHT.

It sounds really silly but I find listening to children's talking books that you know the story of really well (I quite like Matilda) really relaxing.

I have the Sarah Jane Adventures on my ipod, which is meant for kids, and I find it relaxing because the stories are so necessarily complicated like you get with adult books.....
