The fact that you have scars at all is enough to be taken seriously. Besides, it isn't about the damage you've done, it is about what you feel. You don't need to make it worse before you can make it better and it's a good step that you are trying to stop :)

I agree with Possum. The fact that you have scars whether prominent or not means that you felt the need to take your problems out on yourself which is serious. I think it's really great that your trying to stop!! Well done :)

the people who will be good at supporting you will realize that you're struggling and beleive you without needing scars as proof. needing to see scars is a bit like looking at the gas meter on a car, and refusing to beleive that you need to buy more gas (when the needle is on zero) until the car actually stops running.

this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
PM me anytime, I love getting messages :)

you dont need to have worse scars or anything to get help, you dont need proof
its more about how you feel rather than how bad your scars are, any scars will show there is an issue and that you need support
well done for trying to stop though :)

Just reiterating what everyone else has said: Good friends will believe you without having to see 'proof' everyone else isn't worth it and you shouldnt need to have prominant scars for you to be taken seriously, everyone has the right to get help. Well done for trying to stop :) stay safe.

Have you ever looked fear in the face and said "I just don't care"?

If friends need physical proof about the SH, then they're not really friends at all. Sometimes the only scars that people have are mental ones, and eve then friends shouldn't question you about it. Well done for trying to stop, and I really hope you succeed with it :)
