Trying to help a friend
I have a friend who had a baby 8 months ago. The baby's father left them to go back home, partially cuz he's an a-hole and partially cuz he had to get stuff straitened out. He had hurt her a few time since then. Honestly I think he's an idiot. But my friend still loves him and it's partially because he's the baby's father. Recently they got engaged (he's in Virginia or some place and she's in NY) While I'm not happy about it I am trying to support her and be there for her when something happens. The biggest problem is, everyone else hates the idea and him and is constantly telling her so. I've talked to her and I know it's killing her inside. People are saying stuff on Facebook and getting in fights with the guy... I'm trying to stick up her. I've already told 2 or 3 people that they may not agree and that's fine but they are really hurting her. The most recent fight was between a mother and daughter bashing the father. Yea he cursed and fought back but the mother turned around and told him she's going to go to child services. I didn't want to get in the middle of it but I wrote back and told her that because he didn't threaten the baby or my friend, they weren't going to do anything (plus she was being worse than the father so if she did bring theres more of a chance they'd look at her) My biggest thing is yea they have they're opinion and it's ok to have one a voice it a few times ( and I say that to them) but they've taken it too far now and all it's doing is making her feel like a failure and an idiot. I'm worried about her (I can't see her changing her mind but I can see her hurting herself). Is there anything else I could be doing? or should I just continue to stick up for her....I'm going back to school soon so all I will be able to do is talking to her on fb. (I don't really do anything else right now as it is). How do you make people see that they are really hurting someone?
