name change but want to keep sig

i'm really feeling that i need to change my name. for multiple reasons. BUT i don't want to change my sig (well, or avatar, but that is less of an issue)... is that possible? because i don't know where i got the photos, and honestly only figured out how to make a sig in some sort of epiphany sent from the RYL and internet dieties like, two years ago, and the information has totally left my brain.....

also feeling vaguely scared that if i change my name, i wont be the same person. or it will be too confusing, etc. which i know is silly, but maybe some reassurance for that?

You can just change your username.
Pretty sure you can request it in the control panel, actually, although it's been an age since I last checked..! Also, even if you can request a name change, not sure how possible it is for the mods to approve them at the mo what with the mod-powers issues... hmm...

If you DO get a name change, you can put info in your profile that shows your older username, so people could still find/recognise you... but mostly people tend to recognise avatars & sigs I find, so if they stay the same then yeahhhh..

I think a name change is just a name change... I don't think anything else changes.

And I recognise you for your sig, not your name :)

You can request a new username in Control Panel.

And I agree that you'll still be "you", as someone else said above I too recognise you by your lovely signature :)

i am as well :P i feel very attached to this one, even though i no longer feel or think what it meant originally. and i like cool words as well, so am trying to find something that is positive or at least neutral, and that i like the sound of. i thought that Vermillion might be good, as my favorite color is green (read, i'm obsessed with green) until someone (younger bother) gleefully pointed out how silly i was because vermillion is bright red :P not green. afterwards i even used a thesaurus to try and find other cool words for green, and there weren't any :(
