Another Poem

"I'll Look Life in the Face"
Doesn't flow as well as some of my others and doesn't have a set rhyme scheme, but this is how it came out:

Tell me if I ever slow you down
Knock you to the ground and hide
Would you get back up and look for me
Or simply close your eyes?
You make me take everything the world's
Thrown at me.
You make me stand up when I'm falling down
And be the best that I can be.
I know that life's not fair and that it'll never be.
You made me see it and embrace it fully.
And I know you aren't a savior.
I know you can't be mine.
But still I see you reaching your hand out
To pull me back after I've crossed a line.
You tell me that I'm worth it and
you swear it's true.
But when I think about who deserves it
all I can see is you.
I can only say I'm sorry that I've shown you all this hate
I never meant to hurt you but I see that now it's too late
I'm sorry I could never see
That while I was needing you, you were needing me
I wish I could take back all those selfish things I've said to you.
You saved my life over and over again
But now I see im draining yours, it's true
You pulled me back from the edge of the 18th story balcony
You slapped my face then kissed the bruise
You told me that until I looked life in the face id never be free
You make me keep my head up
As the water rises steadily.
You tell me to keep my back straight
As the waves threaten to knock me over.
All the while you're behind me taking the blows
And I was too blind to even know.
I didn't want to see what you gave up for me.
Now I'm going to change that- I want you to know
I'll keep my head high wherever I go now
I'll ride the waves instead of trying to drown my life away
Staring at the beach that seems so far away
You don't need to hold me up any longer.
I'll keep on thinking of you forever
But I know it's time to let go.
Thank you for giving me the life I've never known.

I love this. prefer things without a set rhyme scheme actually, it has a really good internal bounce.

I thought it flowed quite nicely actually. Very nice too by the way, reminds me of my relationship with a good friend.
