Changes to chat.

Hello Everyone,

As you are probably aware chat has been suffering for quite a while now. The chat mods are obviously aware of it, however we have been guilty of burying our heads in the sand. When we come onto RYL and we only see problems and issues and have very little willpower to resolve these things....we (all I think) tend to turn away and try to ignore it.

We are also aware that we havent been conscious of members feelings in regards to chat. Although there have been grumbling there hasnt been much more than usual that has been brought to our attention.

Whilst we are making every endeavour to get chat back on chat,please remember that with so few moderators, we are not available all of the time. So please continue to send in chat logs to us, they are vital.

The following changes in chat are not there to make chat a worse place to be, we do not want to be 'nazis' or whatever. We will endeavour to be more on the ball in regards to rule breaks and to spend more time in rooms 3&4.

There are only 4 chat mods left. On an area of RYL where things are fast paced, this is not a good position to be in. We need everyone who goes into chat to help us....

General chat in room 4 is common place now, but it is not allowed. This is one of the biggest problems in chat. From now on, an official warning will be given as soon as general chat is taking place in 4. If it continues, people will be frozen/kicked much more quickly than previously.

Ignoring the chat mods, eg when asked to move rooms continuing to general chat will result in members being kicked straight away.

The same will go for all rule breaking, an official warning will be given straight away. We realise that this is making chat stricter, but we are trying to run it as best we can and one of the main factors of it not running well is rule breaking.

There has also been an increase in people arguing back with the moderators in chat, if this occurs, members will be frozen straight away.

We need everyones help with this,please. The four of us will try and turn chat around the best we can, but we NEED your help. It would also be nice if members didn't tell the chat mods what to do, we were all picked because we are capable of being chat mods and we know how to handle situations. Although we appreciate help, there is a line.

The following are the changes that are being made to chat:

Chat changes:
*General chat in room 4 will not be tolerated, an official warning will be given straight away,followed by freezing/kicking.

*Any rule breaking will be an official warning straight away.

*Ignoring the mods when they ask you to do something (eg move from room 4) will be an immediate kick.

* Arguing with a moderators decision will result in a freeze in chat.

*Any pictures that break ANY of the RYL rules will result in members being kicked immediately.

ive read the thread and i think this is extremely valuable as i feel the issues that came up in the thread are increasing problems im glad that there is action being taken as i have struggled on many occasions to recieive the support i need especically in room 4 so thanks too the 4 mods x

Adding to that, I think it was room 1 we were in and a member came in and said they'd cut so I agree with Eli.

I dont see that often, or if it does happen when you tell them, they usually stop. But thats just my experience. I will talk to the rest of the chat mods and see what they think.

That would come under bullying,which is against the rules,so of course that will be dealt with.

However we cannot 'stop' it, that is down to members attitudes. There is no point in us freezing people after the event, the damage is already done. So maybe its up to members to think before they say.

We can enforce these as much as possible, but if members arent willing to change too then its going to be a useless activity.
