Contains alcohol - need help...please

I had quite a heavy weekend, drank a lot (I drink a lot anyway but this was a proper binge). I woke up shaky (usual) but also intensely paranoid. I couldn't work, had to hide in a cupboard for most of my shift convinced everyone could read my thoughts, was looking at me or talking/ laughing about me. It was one of the most horrible mornings I have had in a long time. I had a couple of drinks to calm the panic and paranoia, and felt better- not perfect, bit fuzzy, but better. Today I am a little shaky, a little nauseous, a little funnyfeeling and craving a drink but nowhere near as bad as yesterday.

WHY is this??

I can't answer the why, except to say that alcohol messes with our brains.

Why was the weekend so heavy? Has anything happened?

Take care x

Thanks for replying.

Was just a "good" weekend. Downing a half bottle of vodka in twenty minutes was stupid. "Hair of the dog" turned into a whole coat of the dog, and then some. Distressed by the paranoia.

And now I am just lonely. My best friend tried to kill herself yesterday and through the haze of booze and distance I could barely feel it until this afternoon.

I can't talk to anyone. I can't explain how terrifying the paranoia was. My girlf thinks it was a hangover. Can hangovers even do that?

Sorry I'm whining it's pathetic. How are you? x

I'm OK this week - have my god daughters to stay which is great fun :)

I find if I get drunk too quickly I am more excessive. I'm no expert about all the crap things alcohol can do to us, but I expect paranoia is on the list. The cliche about DTs is that you see pink elephants after all!

Do relaxation techniques help (not when you're paranoid, but at other times)?
