Tom Hanks says that Toy Story 4 is in the works

TOM Hanks has revealed that Woody and Co. are getting ready for their fourth outing.

The Oscar winning star, who lends his voice to sheriff Woody in the Disney Pixar films, has hinted that Toy Story 4 is in the works.

"I think there will be, yeah. I think they're working on it now," he told the BBC.

Tim Allen - who voices Buzz Lightyear - previously divulged he had an option in his contract for another film, and while admitting there are no immediate plans for another follow-up, director Lee Unkrich didn't close the door to the franchise completely.

"We have no plans to make Toy Story 4 at all - we try to end Toy Story 3 in a very lovely way, with the story of Andy and his toys," he said.

"We are looking for ways to keep the Toy Story characters alive. We do still want them to be in the world," he added.

Tom has said he would gladly reprise his role in the award-winning films: "As long as I don't develop a smoker's cough, yeah, I'm there. Whatever they need. There's only one Woody, and it's me."

Toy Story 3, released in August 2010, has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

No. Just no. The ending of Toy Story 3 was a conclusive, satisfying ending to the series as a whole. Any attempt to undo that by making a fourth film is doomed to look sloppy at best.

"We do still want to keep [the characters] in the world." In that case, never, ever stop producing the DVDs/Blu-Rays of the trilogy. That's enough.

I don't mean to compare Toy Story to Citizen Kane, but does anyone think Citizen Kane needs a sequel to keep it alive in people's minds? No, because it (like the Toy Story trilogy) is timeless and capable of standing on its own merit, not a string of cash-cow sequels.

Ah, Citizen Kane, the most overrated film in the history of cinema.

And yeah I agree, Toy Story doesn't need another film. Only the first one was good anyway..

For a start, it'll take them years...

& I agree, definitely no need for another film. I wishhh such successful series like Toy Story would stop "over-egging" their success and dragging it out, and be happy with what they've achieved and leave it. In my mind, it ended, and anymore would just be completelyyy unnecessary and would seem to be only because they know they can drain more money out of it all.

It's like Shrek was - great to begin with, but overdone for the sake of more money, which made the "quality" (for want of a better word) of the films worse.

Wish they'd just be happy with the success and leave it alone.

I think making a fourth might ruin what they had. The 3rd one ended very sweetly. i really enjoyed all the toy story movies, but if they make another one, i probally wouldn't watch it.

I've been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. I don't exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I follow my blood, which doesn't exactly rush in the direction of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong bloody calls. A hundred plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of: you.

Enough is enough, Toy Story never really interested me much anyway. I did use to like the green dinosaur though.

I hope he's kidding, but I was sceptical about the third one and look how good that turned out!

Maybe in another ten years or so, á la Scream 4?
