I'm off to Edinburgh for a couple of days soon, and was wondering if you all know of any good things to do?
I'm going with my Grandpa (his treat, n'aww) and I'm sure he'll have a couple of ideas, but, just in case, what would you say are the 'must-do's for a short trip there?
Go to the Camera Obscura, it's amazing, my favourite thing in Edinburgh by a mile, so much fun!
Also, you have to go to the castle, obvs. Oh and go scare yourself witless on a ghost tour, oh my god, terrifying.

If the weather's good then go up Arthur's Seat cos the views are amazing! (or Calton Hill if you cant be bothered with climbing much).
And the castle, which is good but expensive. And there's the dungeon, the zoo, botanic gardens, portrait gallery, the Scott monument, loads of those tour buses and just the Royal Mile itself is pretty awesome :D Have fun!
On a serious note... the castel, arthurs seat (if the weather is good), camera obscura, national gallery (especially if your granddad is a royalist cos they have a special exebition about the queen at the moment), the royal mile, the dungeons/ghost tour, the grassmarket, the royal yatch Britannia, the zoo, the botanic gardens, princes st gardens and scott monument (you get a great view of the castle if you climb the monument)
Think that covers most of the touristy things... and depending when you are going there are always a bunch of different things going on (currently its the film festival, then theres the international festival and the fringe festival)
i found a really nice posh fudge shop on the parliment end of the royal mile and check out the shops on cockburn street (across from the dungeons)
There are 2 awesome fudge places on the royal mile - both definitely worth a visit if you like fudge, and if you don't then a- you're crazy and b-you can stand outside one of them and watch them make the fudge which is pretty cool!
Also Cockburn (pronounced co-burn, you dirty minded people!) Street has a really cool sweetie shop too, all old fashioned and you go in and ask for however many grams of whatever sweet and they get down the big jar and weigh it out for you :D Hmm.. I may have to have a trip into town this afternoon :P I'm now craving rosy apples!
