Anyone been to a crisis house?

I would like for anyone who has been to one , to give me an idea of what they are like please. The last few days have been such a strain on my soul. i went to see a therapist on thurs last and he basicly said," soz cant help . My gp then referz me to the cmht and i was seen the same day! Then they get the crisis team out today, they want me to go to this place on monday for a week or two, plus they want to send someone round tomorrow . I have never had any previous contact with mental health folk before and its just abit overwhelming and scary, so i welcome any and all words of wisdom and experience/ encouragement.

I don't know if it's the same, but I've been inpatient on a crisis bed, but that was on a psychiatric ward, not a house.

I was visited every day by a social worker or CMHT/Crisis Team worker. They basically offer you a place to get safe and then think about what you want from discharge.

They will ask you if you have any sharp or dangerous objects with you so I advise you don't take anything. They will go through your belongings, but that's more for your protection than anything as they will write down all that you have with you to make sure things don't get stolen. Things like phone chargers and anything that you can't have in your room (anything that could be damaging) will be kept in the property room and you'll be allowed to use it whenever under supervision (normally, obviously depends on the individual and their current state - I was often told I wasn't allowed to charge my phone because I wasn't trusted with the wires).

You'll probably have obs if it's connected to the ward, and they're really good about it. Unless there's increases risk they tend to just wander around and poke their head around doors during the day. The only annoying thing about night is they either shine a torch at you or turn on your light to check you're still put and okay. Gets annoying every hour lol!

Meal times will be protected.... I think that's standard practice in any medical environment nowadays. Just means no visitors/meds/obs will be done during that time.

If you have other Qs let me know.

Previously unicorn-tears

In a burst of light that blinded every angel
As if the sky had blown the heavens into stars
You felt the gravity of tempered grace,
falling into empty space
With no-one there to catch you in their arms

I'm currently in a crisis house - but they all differ. It's helped me no end, so ask as many questions as you can & use the time to the full.
