Sertraline induced Stress????

Hi everyone.

I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm seeking help because I feel as though I'm losing my mind. My doctor prescribed me sertraline (50 mg's) for anxiety this past April. When I first began taking it, I didn't notice a thing. I was still needing to take xanax to combat my anxiety but I chose to stick it out. Sure enough, after about a month of taking it I started to feel great. I felt as though a cloud had been lifted from over my head and for the first time in years began to feel alive! It was AWESOME! I thought I was cured.

Unfortunately, after a week of walking on "cloud nine", I actually felt the med stop working, I felt the cloud slowly drift back. I went to my doctor and he upped my dose to 100mg's which I've been taking for 2 weeks now. Since I began the 100mg's, I have been feeling MISERABLE!!!
I feel like I'm constantly stressed out. My jaw is tight, I grind my teeth. I've been getting headaches etc.

I'm hoping to that as in the case of the 50mg's that eventually, once my body gets adjusted, I will begin to feel better.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

One other thing to mention, I've had "night sweats" that are out of control. The first night I thought I had wet the bed, that's how soaked I was with sweat!

Thanks in advance. Any info is greatly appreciated. ~ J.G.

sounds like what happened to me when i was put on sertraline, it made me manic... i couldn't eat, had the shakes, didn't sleep, tight jaw and teeth grinding... i went off certain textures of food...things like bananas and mashed potato, ready brek, soggy textures... and the nightly hot sweaths or hot fluushes in the day
might be worth telling your doctor you don't think it's suitable for you, may try you on somethign else... all ssri's did this to me so they tried me on mirtazapine.

I think you need to go back to the psych/GP and discuss the side effects you are having. When you saw your GP before did he/she know how badly you were being effected? As you have been on them since April that's a lot of time to get adjusted to the meds if the side effects would stop.

If it was me, I would definitely speak to the Doctor. They may have ideas how to help you.
