iPod help??

My iPod wont work
To start off with the screen was just white... so I restored it to it's origional settings... and now it won't work at all. Nothing happens!
I can't live without my iPod.. anyone know how I can fix it?
I can't take it back to where I got it from, cause 1, I got it nearly 2years ago, and 2, through a long and painful story I didn't have to pay for it. (I got it out of my Nans catalog that she ran, and she died before I payed for it. The catalog never asked for it back, or for payment)

What can I do???

try plugging it into the pc.
which ipod is it, if you can put it into dfu mode there is a chance you can restore the firmware on it?

Its an iPod touch. The older version.

Ipods have a shelf life of two years, my dad's did the same as yours has, according to apple themselves it can't be fixed :(

ok dfu is like a recovery mode,
ill link you to a step by step.
when you plug it in, itunes will say ipod detected in recovery mode do you want to attempt to fix,
it is slightly risky but as its not working its worth a try

You could try buying something that's not from Apple and therefore will work. For example, try Creative Zen. Mine's lasted me years, never had trouble with it.

there are plenty of cheap mp3 players out there that do the same job, with the ipod you only pay for the lable.

I just think technology advances do come at a cost if you want them sooner rather then later.

Dont get me wrong i love a bargain, but i know if i want to get something when it comes out it will cost.
