Hi everyone,
I'm writing to tell you all about a campaign called Body Gossip, it promotes body confidence and acceptance by simply asking people to write a body story. Some of these stories are then performed by celebrities including Nikki Grahame, Natalie Cassidy, Cerrie Burnell, Zarah Abrahams, Louisa Lytton and Fredi Kruga to give them a more powerful voice
I wrote a BodyGossip story about my arms which are badly scarred by self harm and I found it such a cathartic and cleansing experience. Writing my story helped me to view my scars as marks of survival, not as defeat, and it felt wonderful to be honest (even just to a piece of paper) about how I really felt about the way they looked.
Body Gossip are currently collecting stories for the first Body Gossip book which is going to be released in a couple of months, and they are still looking for more stories in the next 4 weeks to be included in this.
I would really encourage you to think about writing a story- like I said, it was such a positive experience for me and I am sure it would be for other people too!
Your story can be about anything, and can be written in any way. As a poem, prose, script, letter, stream of consciousness.
If you do decide to write a story you can submit it for publication in the book (either accredited or anonymously) at
www.bodygossip.org/book
I really hope you think this would be beneficial for you- I certainly found it a far more valuable exercise than I ever thought I would.
For more information or to see films of other Body Gossip stories you can visit
www.bodygossip.org.
You can also follow the campaign on facebook and twitter for more updates and information.
Please give it a go! I really think it could help people on here,
Love Sarah xx
