I feel like I failed.

I've just started taking Prozac again after 6 months away from it. I just wasn't coping very well and knew that I wouldn't be able to cope with the long, lonely summer and then starting Uni in September without a bit of help. But I feel like I've failed. I've known for months I probably shouldn't have stopped the medication in the first place, but I feel like I've given up by going back on the meds. Even though they make me feel better. I'm a massive perfectionist and feel like this is a 'step backwards' from where I was before, even though as I said, I probably needed the prozac months ago.

can anyone relate?

You have not given up by going back on the meds. What you have done is come to accept your current state of well-being. You state yourself that you knew you should not have come of of them and that suggests you have not been feeling well for a while now.

If anything, this is a step forward for you. An acceptance that you need help and a willingness to try medication again as a part of that help. Do you think seeking therapy or counselling would help you in this?

It is a big step, and I can understand how it must feel like a negative one to you, do be gentle with yourself though - as you have done nothing wrong.

*safe hugs*

I can relate, I recently started taking my anti-depressants again after a time off them.
However, this is NOT a bad thing. This is progress. This is having the ability to say "I am struggling and need this help." Being able to look at your situation and make that decision is a huge step forwards, not backwards. Struggling on when you are not coping is not making progress.
I can understand your feelings, and sometimes it is difficult for me to accept that I need to be on medication right now, I find it hard to accept that I can't do things on my own.
But as I said, it is so very important to be able to assess your situation and make the choices you need to, to make sure you are safe and supported.
Take care of yourself
