I have another question today XD

When I get really upset or panicky I lose the ability to communicate with the people around me.
The only way I can describe it is ...its like I'm suddenly encased a glass box, i can see everything around me and everyone can see me but i cannot interact with them.
It causes a lot of problems because in these situations some comfort from my loved ones would go along way, but they get offended because I won't talk to them or seem like I am "blowing them off"

What IS that sudden boxed in......ness XD Does it have a special official sounding medical name?
Does anyone else have this problem?
How can I remedy it?
It just recently cause a huge fight with my partner...and I just really wish I knew how to NOT hop into my glass box whenever I get upset...

i havent heard a medical term for it......

can you explain to yourself what you want to say when you get that feeling? thats the first thing you need to be able to do. its incredibly hard to communicate with someone when you're not entirely sure what you want to say....

and it might help if you have a signal to tell your partner or whoever to give you like a 3 or 5 minute break (however long it ends up you need really, might be shorter or longer, its something thats individual) for you to get your thoughts together and figure out how to say them. and if necessary you could write it down

this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.

The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.

PM me anytime, I love getting messages :)

I understand. I get complete mutism in times of stress, where I cannot speak at all. Is it a total communication shutdown? Because I can write or type to communicate when I am like this. Can you?

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

No, I can't really communicate at all, not until I calm down a bit. I used to signal it to my family by putting on a certain type of perfume, but I don't always have it with me.
I just wish that I had a good way to explain it, I get tired of everyone thinking that I'm making the glass box up to justify bad behavior or what not.
AND even better would be to figure out how to break out of it completely T_T

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what to suggest, except use certain signals which are easier to use than perfume? I don't know if this is of any use in your case, but I have a card in my wallet that says I'm autistic and that sometimes my communication breaks down and I can't talk. I got mine from an organisation, but perhaps you could make one for yourself?
