Hello im a newly registered member, though ive lurked for some considerable time. I never discuss my issues with anyone usually, but i had to seek help a few weeks ago as the coping mech's i use have become ineffectve. My doctor asked if i heard voices or had visions etc. I said no because im not really sure and was fearful of what may happen if did say yes. Anyway what i'd like your oppinion on is, are hallusinations only experienced with open eyes?
Hi, the worst the doctor can do really is put you on medication to stop the hallucinations etc. Don't be scared to tell your doctor the truth at the end of the day they are there to help you. Hallucinations are things which you see that aren't really there so i spose they can only be seen with opened eyes, not sure tho! x x
Hi, thanks for the reply , i ask because well , on occasion when i close my eyes i see this face , its a mans face that i dont recognise and have seen it for many years . Its weired i can sence that he is there before i close my eyes.
i think whispered secrets myabe right
because most people when closin their eyes see colours shapes faces or just a weid darkness hullsnaions are generally when your awake eyes open or sometime when peopple are so physically tierd it is also common then same with voices
young girl its alright your tears will soon dry your soon be free to fly
she's falling from grace , she's all over the place..............
I wasn't sure my self either, ive seen the same face,no voice to it though since i was about 9or 10, im now 36 and its still there. There is also a horrible feeling that comez with it, like impending doom, that varies in intensity.
I,m just weired i think lol
You say you don't recognise the face, but could it be a face that your brain recognises but has blocked out? And you don't need to answer this, but were you ever abused as a child? Because that could have an influence on it.
"Keep your heart open to dreams. For as long as there's a dream, there is hope, and as long as there is hope, there is joy in living."
Hi DJR- From a quick search there is a type of closed eye hallucination, but the fact that you are seeing a face may be your brain "creatively interpreting" a random pattern. Therefore it does seem worthwhile to discuss it with your therapist.
The conversation might go: "Do you remember when you asked me if I suffered from hallucinations? What do you mean by 'hallucinations'? Can you see hallucinations when your eyes ar closed? Because.........(then give your experience(s)."
It doens't have to mean immediate medication. If it is something that you are used to and doesn't cause you much distress- your discussions with your doctor should clarify how to treat it. But if it does distress you, more of a reason to talk about it. You don't have to tell your doctor everything at each visit, but appreciate that the more information they have, the more helpful it is in diagnosising and treatmenting you correctly.

Hi, thanks so much for answering. This is the first time i've ever saught help from a doctor with regards to mental health. I have always been able to keep things in check and fake my way through things like work and family. They do not know much of what goes on in my head, it even shocks me sometimes.
When I initially sought help, I had gotten to this place where I knew I wasn't functioning and things couldn't stay the way that they were. You can fake to a point, but the one person you ain't foolin' is yourself. I suffer from hallucinations- auditory and visual- when I am under severe stress. I don't like it. But I don't worry because I understand what is happening now. I take steps to deal with it like not drive so much or reduce my workload.
Your mental health is like a lump of thread in your head that is all untangled and knotted up. The therapist becomes your partner in slowly untangling the mess, and wrapping it up into a more functional, happier ball that you can do more things with. (Terrible analogy but hope you get what I mean). It is a slow, long process, but you are worth it.

Hi, that was a good way of describing it , and what a mess it is!. I have got my first appointment with the therapist on the 23rd of june, i'm told i will only get six sessions, seems not worth it to me cos that will only scratch the surface , i mean it will take a bit to get used to him and if i get the slightest hint of ridicule or boardum from him i will be out the door. I realy cant see any benifit in only six goes. They want me to sign an agreement is that common? Also ive never seen a psych in my life , will this CPN be a similar thing? Sorry to ask so many questions, i dont know what the process involves.i have always tried to avoid it.
Sorry that I cannot give too much authoritative advice on this. My understanding is that 6 sessions has to do with resources as well as a point of review. So if you are out the door, you don't even give them a chance to scratch the surface! You would not consider yourself an expert on the reactions of a new friend before even 6 interactions. I don't know what the signed agreement is about, but again it might me that you understand that the services are limited to 6. But if at the end of the 6 they think you need more..........my understanding is that this is discussed.
I do not think a CPN is a similar thing. I think that they are your key worker/ coordinator of your mental health services and you might be meeting with them past the 6 weeks? But again it is about forming relationships- partnerships to stay well.
I assume each area in the UK is different so maybe ask questions from either the therapist or CPN on how it is going to go down and your concerns.
You're at this point now. Baby steps forward.

The CPN and the therapist are the same person, he sent me the agrement in the post and im to bring it to my first session. It basicly says who he will talk to about me if he feels it nessesary and he or i can quit the sessions at any time. The letter was worded quit abuptly and it makes me feel like im a nusance to him, thats why i will be out the door if things dont sit right.
I'm at the doctors on friday so i'll ask him about it if i remember, see my main trouble is people and the lack of trust i have im them. I dont do friends or boyfriends there is just to much emotional commitment .
