Work and BPD

Lately i have been finding it so difficult to go to work i have mood swings bouts of anger then im ok, everyone around me is starting to avoid me or get angry with me. I like my job and im trying to climb the ladder, the managers help out alot and i dont know whether i should tell my HR manager about my bpd as its really affecting me at the moment but then i dont want it to stop me getting a promotion.
Has anyone ever told there work? and how did they react????

Im alone and im hurting

If you tell someone at work they might be able to put things in place for you to make it easier for you to do your job. There is a thing called reasonable adjustments which employers should make for people who have health problems that affect their work. Why do you think it would stop you from getting a promotion? That would be discrimination. Perhaps it would help you to get a promotion because you would be better able to do your job with the right kind of adjustments or understanding.

Thanks for the reply:) im worried it would stop them from promoting me as they may feel i can cope. Im not sure what adjustments they could make cause its quite a high pressured job but i just wanted them to understand and she is a nice lady so i think she might, im really scared about doing it but its got to breaking point now i think they should know

How do your mood swings effect things at work?

I know for me, when my symptoms are very intense, my managers have enabled me to work in the office away from customers, or in a quieter location if there is enough notice. Those are some of the reasonable adjustments I've had. Also things like additional or more frequent/split breaks.

Work don't know about my BPD, but that I have difficulties with my mental health. If the main issue is that you get mood swings, then you could ask to contact a support worker or some time out.
What support have you got to help you deal with the mood swings?

Hunny you really need to tell your work what is going on.
They should be able to help you and try and take some of the stress away from you.

My work know and they are amazing and if i need time off then I can take it.

Ask to see occupational health. They can recommend adjustments and also usually offer short term counselling/support. Some places pay for longer.
Have you told the psychiatrist that it isn't enough and that you want some therapy?
