Ideas for Fi (MaybeNotForever)

Hello! I'm posting on here on behalf Fi (MaybeNotForever), because she needs some ideas for constructive ways of expressing her emotions, but was too shy to make a thread. In hospital, she heard of someone who found an old room, and chucked paint around in it, which sounds like it would be helpful, but obviously access to deserted rooms for paint-throwing fun tends to be limited :p

So any ideas would be really appreciated!
My ideas:
-writing an angry blog
-scrunching up balls of paper and chucking them round the room
-writing poetry

No other sadness in the world would do

You could get an old sheet and tape it against a fence then throw paint at (that sounds like so much fun actually.

Also you could:
-Put some music and draw what the music feels like (even better if you can find music that matches your mood
-Put music on and dance to it
-Have a feelings journal

on every single day and it's
something that doesn't
get a day off."

You could try writing a poem expressing how you're feeling (no-one has to read it if you'd rather keep it private!)
Draw or paint or write
Bake things! I love doing that :)
Express yourself through dance or song, perhaps.

Hope you find something helpful :) xx

Thanks for making this thread for me, Jenna. :)

Yeah, I sometimes get far too much emotion inside me, and have no way to let it out. :/
My therapist said to find lots of ways to let it out, but I couldn't think of anything...

I love baking! :D I like to make marble cake, but I haven't done that in ages...
Music and drawing are good too, I like those. :)

I'll have to write these down somewhere. XD

I thought maybe I could smash up cardboard boxes (and then possibly set fire to the pieces). But I'm not sure my parents would let me do that. :/

Oh, and to add my own, in case anyone else wants to use these, ripping up newspapers! :P

Something I did that really helped me was to go and get pipe insulation (it had to be the stiff stuff) and whack the hell out of a coffee table with it. You can also shout and rant at the same time.

I love taking photos, I find they can be a really constructive way to display your emotions particularly if you're handy on photo shop... look in the creative corner for ideas and stuff :)
And for anger etc - martial arts helped me a lot, but obv in the home a punchbag would be more practical (you can get blow up ones quite cheap)

I jog, or walk briskly to pound my feelings out on the pavement.

I also draw - I use a lot of shading and find the use or pencil and charcoal expressive.

In terms of paint, you could perhaps paint on a field - Take the stuff to a park, lay out a blanket and stick paper down on it and throw, step, or brush paint that way. You could also have a large canvas to do this on - my bf uses acrylic paints and enjoys the textures and colours. I have never taken to paint, but often the layers and texture are more than the accuracy in it I think.

Tearing up cardboard boxes is good. I have done that in the past, start of with a pile of old boxes (if you go to a local store or newsagents, they will often hapilly give you a pile for free) and tear them up into gradually smaller pieces - makes them easier to recycle, also. I have also sat and torn up entire newspapers and notebooks (and books....).

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

I used to do martial arts, but gave it up a few years back, mainly because my SI was getting too obvious, but also the club wanted me to become a teacher/sensei, and I didn't want to.
It was very useful though, and the senseis said I was very good at punching and kicking things! XD
Maybe one day I'll take it up again, possibly at uni, when I get that far.

Artistic stuff seems to rate highly. I need to get a new camera really, and I'll try some photography. :)
Roiben, that's a good idea with going to the park to paint, but I'd be afraid people would look at me and think I was odd :P

I might nab some of the old newspapers tomorrow, and keep them in my room for destroying. :)

Just to pre-warn you that old newspaper can become a bit confetti like upon destroying - worth it to get the feelings out, but I wanted to let you know in advance.

If you're feeling really angry or upset, then punching a pillow or going for a run (and really pushing yourself) can help. I prefer cycling to running, but have my music on and make myself work hard. Afterwards I always feel much better (endorphins and all that...).

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Oooo also - bottle banks are brilliant... nothing is better for stress relief than smashing up bottles :D (safely where they help contribute towards helping the environment :P )

Ahhh, running sounds good! and it's exercise too :P I have a beach really close to my house, maybe I could run on that, when it's empty. Shall try that out!

Bottle banks are great fun! :D I'll make sure when my mum next decides to throw out bottles, that I go along.

Also, I have been ripping up newspaper tonight, and it does make a lot of mess! XD And made my fingers go grey too. :/
But it was great! :)
And I've found an alternative to throwing paint: throwing shower gel at the bathroom wall :D Tomorrow I will try and get hold of some cheap shower gel to throw around.

Thanks for all the replies, guys!

I've been one for stabbing newspaper with cheap colored pencils. Also singing/screaming angry songs loudly. Or cook something that has batter that gets thick as you stir it. It's a work out for your arms and can really help.

I've tried some of these now, and the stabbing newspaper stuff is really good!!

Tried this too, but I don't have any eyeliner, so grabbed a fineliner and did this. Which was fun, but a pain to wash off! XD
