I just saw this on Facebook, & most people are getting it wrong. My logical mind knows the answer... but do you? This is just a quick thing that I thought you might like? x

What is 2 + 2 x 2?

6 OR 8?

If it were (2+2)x2,that would be 8.But there are no parantheses,so,yeah,it's 6.

Shows I'm rusty on my maths; I thought if there were no parentheses you worked from left to right. I'll have to remember that PEMDAS

Ah, yeah. It's only left to right if they're at the same level/ rank. Multiplication and division are the same rank, but they're both above addition and subtraction. :)

because you treat it like 2 + (2x2) due to bodmas

Brackets first
pOwers
Divide
Multiply - is higher than addition so 2x2 comes first
Add - so you then add 2 to the multiplication
Subtract
