Contains Suicide - If I told my doc....

.....that I am seriously contemplating suicide, will they put me in hospital?

Probably, for legal reasons. However, if you're able to make a contract with your doctor that you will not until such a date, then perhaps no. Also, your doctor would have to believe you.

Hospital is not all bad and can be helpful.

I don't think my daughter would be able to handle it and I've put her through/am putting her through enough.

I tried to get an appointment but none left today. Have to call again tomorrow at 8 to try again. I feel stupid, like seeking attention.

Well done for trying to get an appointment for today...Just wondering, do they do keep some appointments by for emergencies? It may be worth a try hun....youre not attention seeking, this is serious and you need help with it....hope you either get an emergency appt for today or you manage to get one tomorrow ...hugs xx

It doesn't have to be hospital. I was asked many times if they thought I needed it and managed to talk myself out of it. I told them everything.

There is a good chance that if they feel you are stable enough they will refer you to the crisis team who will risk assess you and see you th rough the hardest part.

They will not force you into hospital unless you are an immediate danger to yourself or others.

Sorry to hear you're feeling low. I don't know if your dr would send you to hospital or not but you should defo speak to him and be honest with him. It's not attention seeking to seek the help that you need. I hope it all works out ok for you.

Well, tried for an appointment and none left for today either. Only one doc working cos of holidays and stuff. Great.

Sorry things are bad Tiff. Could you call your local crisis team and get some support from them? They could either admit you or more likely offer you support until you can get an appointment with your GP next week.

Ah, Tiff, I'm sorry you're feeling bad. What's going on with the doctor now? Maybe like Laura said, if you tell them why you're called, they'll find a slot for you.
