As much as I don't think the lambasting of Harley helps matters, I do think it would be nice for him to pop on and at least post an update or something everyone once in a while. That could at least keep us informed and maybe lessen the frustration.
Even the busiest person has a spare two minutes in their life.
I hope this didn't appear as a critical post. It was posted slightly [very] tongue-in-cheek, but really, I agree with Claire; getting an update is really all that would be nice.

Seriously guys - with comments like these appearing it's a wonder that Harley even keeps RYL running!! If I was him I'm not sure I'd be too keen on investing all that time (and probably money) into upgrading a site where the members are just moaning.
Lets just all remember that Harley doesn't HAVE to provide us with RYL at all - Perhaps we should just bear in mind that Harley does have a life outside RYL and maybe something has come up which has prevented him from any v4 updates. Can't we just be grateful for what we have??

I am grateful. However we have been promised things and not delievered. People aren't asking for miracles, just for a few updates now and then.

I don't think anybody has forgotten that RYL is provided by Harley (and sponsors), and haven't read anything to imply that - so I don't know where you got the idea that anybody has forgotten that from. Similarly, I don't see moaning in this thread. People are frustrated, and it's something that's been going on for a loooong time.
V4 has been promised for years now. Nothing gets upgraded on V3 because when the Community Team try to update something (like the main site, which is pants on V3 but was an incredible resource on V2), we get told not to do it because V4 is coming soon. However, there are no updates about what's happening, other than we were aiming for a Xmas 2010 upgrade at the absolute latest, and at the absolute worst, Easter 2011 - and not hearing anything else since then, I think it's fair enough to ask whether or not the upgrade is going ahead, non?
On a personal note, I'd be happy if we either had an upgrade, or we were able to do things on the main site with the CT to make it better, more useable and more user-friendly - instead, we're being told that we shouldn't do anything because V4 is coming soon, and then not hearing anything else.
I don't think anybody is expecting miracles; an update every now and again would be nice though. In fact, Harley posted in November that a V4 update was due 'very soon', so he's said himself that an update was needed.

I have to agree with Jo.
Credit where credit due, I am thankful that the site is up and James does an incredible job of maintaing it.
However, updates would be good. If V4 is never seen, I can live with that, but the 'V4 will be here by christmas 2008' summer 2009 etc thing does kind of ask people to poke fun at it.
I know it would probably take a lot of work to do, but I also know, that personally, it would save me a heck of a lot of time. If the main site was orgainsed and able to be updated, we could have articles up there and keep it updated.
I loved the main site on V2, it was so useful and easy to navigate. And, I have to say, it was via a main site article, that I found the forum.
Yeah just stop hoping. This site's going downhill and there being no active webmaster doesn't help that. If you don't have the time pass it over to someone else. I don't even know who the head mod is. I get that Harley's busy but that doesn't mean he has to leave the people that do/used to care about this site or have put in time and effort, however much or little, in the lurch (and to throw his toys out of the pram every time he's questioned about it). I used to respect Harley. Shame that.
I dont think there is a head haed mod? Head forum mod is Shambles, head of chat is griddlebone.
BUt yes, I get frustrated because I want to do all these things but repeteadly get told that I can't/CT can't because none of us have the powers/v4 is coming soon.
