I can't tell you why it doesn't hurt anymore, but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone...I don't get pain much anymore, it makes it worse I find...makes me do a lot more coz I deserve to feel the pain...meh sorry, I know I'm no help, hope you're ok xXx

I know what you mean... it feels like that for me sometimes too :/

I've read that when you get hurt, your brain releases endorphins to reduce the pain. You can get addicted to the endorphins too... which may be part of it.

*hugs* I sure hope you're doing alright.

We are male and female. We are artists, athletes, and students. We have depression, PTSD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, or maybe no diagnosis at all. Some of us were abused, some not. We come from all walks of life and can be any age. We are every race or religion that you can think of. Our common link is this: We are in pain. We self-injure. And we are not freaks.

I read something like that too. I always think perhaps we get used to it so much we don't feel it anymore? It's a slippery slope coz then the only way to feel is to do escalate to worse things....if u dont mind me askin do u get help or support from anywhere? it may be worth bringing up if u do...xXx

Funnily enough, the deeper you cut, the less painful it is. This is due to the nerve endings are mostly on your skin, not further down your anatomy.

If I cut not too deep it hurts more than hitting an artery/muscle/bone.

Also different parts of your body hurt differently. For instance, it's more painful to cut your thigh than your arm.

Tell me about it! I caught my hand on the (very hot) oven shelf yesterday, yelped like a baby, moaned it hurt and have a small burn mark from it today.

Yet, last week I was in hospital having a two hour operation having skin grafts on serious self inflicted burns where I never told anyone I had done them at first (compared to last night's whinging to a friend how sore my hand was, lol!) never complained at the pain secondly (before, during and after surgery) and had the operation without any anxiety or fear.

Now if that isn't f**ed up and ironic I don't know what is!! lol
