Do you see a Psych or Dr at all? It is worth letting them know that this is happening for you.
I understand how scary it must be for you, so it sounds like a good thing that you have someone with you who understands you. Could they help in going with you to see the Dr?
Do try to take things gently. I always find it exhausting when such things happen to me, so do try to get plenty of rest and be gentle with yourself. As you said, distractions and breathing techniques to help calm you down are worth putting in place.
