I have had them for a few years now, and I never had the courage to tell anyone because I also have them when I'm awake, and I didn't want people to think I was crazy. But the other day I told a good friend and my best friend about them. My best friend laughed at me which of course made me regret doing it in the the first place. But what I really want to know, is there any possible way to get rid of these nightmares? I'm sick and tired of being afraid all the time. thanks.
are you on any medicaton, drugs or alcohol? are you aware when these "nightmares" happen of what is reality and what isnt?
im sorry your friend laughed at you. sometimes people laugh at things they dont understand. dont let that prevent you from speaking to someone else about your experiences and seek help.
I'm sorry your friend laughed at you, as said above it may have been because she didn't understand. Don't let it stop you from telling someone else and seeking support. If they are constant nightmares that are interfering with your life it may help to do talking therapy to start to work through these nightmares so they don't effect you.
"Recovery is something that you have to work
on every single day and it's
something that doesn't
get a day off."
Nightmares can be really scary and I am sorry that your friend laughed at
you, you did not deserve that. You deserve help and support.
“Never lose faith in yourself,
and never lose hope;
remember, even when this world throws its worst and then turns its back,
there is still always hope.”
It might be worth speaking to your doctor about it.
I'm not sure what would help with nightmares, I know you can get medication for night terrors and sleepwalking, but that's not quite the same.
Maybe talking to someone like a therapist would help?
What are the nightmares about?
It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
I'm not very comfortable around doctors or therapists when it comes to myself which is strange but its just the way it is.
The most common one I have is always one of my friends or a family member or myself dying in my arms. Theres always a lot of blood and how they die changes a lot. Some one killed them, they killed themselves, or I killed them.
The other one is this entity I guess that...I don't know that one is really hard to explain.
Like I said, I tried to talk to someone about them, but they just ignored me, and that's the reason my friend laughed at me because she thought it was stupid or something. So I tried, but failed because the people I tried to tell wouldn't listen. So no I won't be able to discuss these things because those were the two people I trusted the most and they didn't care. Which sucks.
It sounds like it might be a good idea to talk to your Dr about these nightmares. Your Dr can then refer you to a specialist sleep clinic. The clinic would have therapy and treatments that are available which could help with the nightmares. As a sleep clinic is run by specialist, any therapy you receive will be specialised and specifically geared at sleep.
As much as I understand not liking Drs and therapists, sometimes one has to fight past that in order to access the best treatment possible.
If you can stress to your Dr the impact the nightmares are having on your day to day life (I imagine, for example, that you must feel tired a lot) then it can help them take on board what you are saying.

If the Human brain were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we wouldn't.
well i guess ill wait till im older to go see a doctor (im only 16 and asking my parents to take me to the doctor for bad dreams doesn't sound like a good idea to me).
