You can't hurt me more than I hurt myself so why do you keep trying?

It's great you want to stop! That's a huge accomplishment. You can and will make it through this- it'll be tough, but you are strong enough. I really hope you're alright, and that recovery will go well for you. You can always send a message if you want to talk... I'll do my best to support you.
*more hugs and love*

We are male and female. We are artists, athletes, and students. We have depression, PTSD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, or maybe no diagnosis at all. Some of us were abused, some not. We come from all walks of life and can be any age. We are every race or religion that you can think of. Our common link is this: We are in pain. We self-injure. And we are not freaks.
slip ups happen, especially when you first start trying to resist. if you haven't learned the other ways to cope that work for you, and don't have a go-to list of distractions, its really hard. but like anything, with practice it gets easier.
maybe you could write a letter to someone explaining whats happening, sometimes thats easier than speaking to them.
making an "uh-oh" box or something like that can be a good first step. its basically just a box or bag where you keep a whole bunch of things to help you when you're having urges. you might want a list of the reasons you don't want to cut, and they don't have to be the ones that everyone always says, the more personal they are the better they will work. then you could put in a good book or dvd, or some music. maybe some hand lotion or nail polish if you like those. some sort of puzzle to keep you occupied, or if you like art of some sort, or something like knitting that can be calming. silly putty or a moldable art eraser can be helpful to take out some of the stress on. maybe photos or other objects that remind you of happy memories... i know theres a list of more ideas on here somewhere, i'll try and find it and send you a link if you like.
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.

It's ok- we will probably all slip up sometimes. I most certainly do anyway. You still have a chance at recovering, and that's wonderful! You can always try again... you will get through this
I hope you're ok!
