so at my school they do this publication called "if i told you" and they pick a topic for people to write about, last year was sexual orientation and this year is mental health.
i want to submit my story. the thing is, again with my indecisiveness, i'm not sure if i want to put my name on it or not. you dont have to, it is okay to submit it anonymously.
i guess if i mention that i still currently SI, i will keep my name off it, if i dont i will submit my name. i'm not sure yet. i have until the 21st.
any opinions on what i should do? and if i should even do it...

I think it might be good for you to submit it. Even without your name If you are not ready for everyone to know your battles. But it would bring a new light to the subject to not only the people who read it, but maybe to you. Every therapist/phycologist/counselor that I have talked to has said that putting your thoughts/concerns/and even your story in print can be very helpful and releiving! so I say go for it!

Don't look behind you, you aren't traveling that direction.
That's sounds like such a good idea, gold stars for your school!
If I were you, and this is just me, I wouldn't put my name on it, school can be rubbish as it is, and there's always gonna be the idiots in the class who will not even attempt to understand anyone who has a problem or is a little different, to avoid any kind of abuse from other pupils that could happen, I would leave it anonymous. Also if your school are unaware of your MH or SI they would probably be obligated to talk to you and your parents.
Goood Luck with it :) Maybe if you write something you could post it here for us
Let the Force be with you
I'm not short, I'm space efficient
I agree that you should do it anonymously. It doesn't matter how well you write the article, or how open you are, people will be jerks. If you're not 100 percent ready for everyone to know about your journey through mental health, do not put your name on it. You should definitely write something for it, though. IT can help some people to understand, and it might let someone else who is in your position to not feel so alone.

i would go with anonymous. if you have friends who might connect the peice to you, then maybe tell them ahead of time, and ask them to not say that you wrote it as you aren't ready yet....
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
thanks everyone, i am going to write it. i do go to college and they wouldnt tell my parents....and i am not sure if they would talk to me about it....last year i think all of the entries were anonymous. they only put graduation year.

Anonymity (if that's how you spell it) can be good. The fact that people who read it don't know who wrote it will make them more aware of the fact that it could be any one of their close friends or even just acquaintences. It will definitely make them see some things in a different light.
Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world awaits in darkness for the light that is you.
Thats really good of your school & I think you should write the story,
However on the adding your name, Before you do make sure you consider all the repercussiona. The school will definatley react, your parents will get called in, They will be required to make sure your getting treatment they may even want you out of school for treatment temporarily. Also everyone at school will of course know, so for a start id let your friends know first or they may be hurt you didn't confide in them. Coming "out" like this will not be
something you can take back.
Telling your story is a good thing!
Telling friends & other people is a good thing!
Getting help is a good thing!
Just be sure you think it through, I assume your parents all ready know & probably a friend or two if your conisdering this as they will be told by the school (& that would be a very hard way for them to find out) I'm just nervous for you about the reactions of people who are not your friends, SI is considered abnormal and unconprevensible to most people, and unfortunatly the school may over react rather than just try to help you.
Good Luck with writting your story!, and if you've thought it through & still want to put your name on it then you should. x
*Sorry ive just read upwards & realised your at college not high school,
The reactions will probably be less forcefull from teachers in this sence, if your not a minor (i'm not sure which parts your officially an adult - 18 or 21 out of uk) Then They will not be obligated to get you help or feel the need to tell your parents (even if you admit you still SI instead of past)
infact I had a couple of teachers/exameners know about my si when i was at college (though they assumed past) As i had several practical science experements for my course that you HAD to role your sleeves up for and i informed them to request my exams to not be in the same room as class mates who i didn't want to know) as i was 18 at the time (in uk) their was no mention of parents obviosly they simply asked me to talk their gudience teacher once (took 5mins i said i was fine, all done) so they were covered.
However you probably still should consider very much about everyone in college who reads it connecting it to you, it could isolate you if people react badly, so i still vote no name in my oppionion to protect you from judgement!
I agree with anonymity. It'll hit home with everyone else a lot more and will protect you also.
Well done for doing it and I wish you the best of luck.
