today i was doing some tidying up and somehow manage to get a cut on my arm. I've patched it up, but its making things difficult. i'm 3 weeks free now i wanna keep going but seeing a cut, and feeling the pain. its helping the urges back. part of me is saying just mess it up, it's aready there. noone will know.
so basically i'm struggling a bit with urges and that and kind of needed to write it down.
so this happen to anyone else, you get hurt by accident and it increases your urges?
if anyones got any tips to help me not make it worse by shing. (i'm not good at letting things heal)
or just control or anything.
it'd help.
I can definitely relate Jen. I have a terrible time letting wounds heal n have taken advantage of accidental injury. My best advice would be to keep it covered. Maybe wrap it in a way that's attractive to you, so you won't wanna mess it up. You'll be sooo proud of yourself when you realize how strong you are! It'll give you even more strength for the future.
This probably won't help at all but I though I'd reply just so you know that your not the only one who gets like this.. I sprained my ankle really badly last week and the pain makes me wanna cut so bad..... It drives me insane. I'd rather hurt myself and cause myself to hurt cause I want to not cause I have too.. I'd say just try not to give in and just remember it as the accident it was and remember that you didn't give into to the urge. Sorry if this didn't help but I tried. Lol. Good luck and take care!!
Yeah, though it's not ideal for the actual healing process, keep it covered as much as possible so it's effort for you to get to.
Also, think about how well you've done so far!!! Though it's been a while for me, still remember how difficult it was to start with. The first month is always the hardest. But you can do it hun

Ugh... I know what you mean :/ Congratulations on going 3 weeks though! That's awesome! You're doing a great job :) It's good you've already covered it up... that is hopefully helping a bit.
I hope it's going alright for you! PM if you want to talk
*hugs*

We are male and female. We are artists, athletes, and students. We have depression, PTSD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, or maybe no diagnosis at all. Some of us were abused, some not. We come from all walks of life and can be any age. We are every race or religion that you can think of. Our common link is this: We are in pain. We self-injure. And we are not freaks.
if you find yourself picking at it absentmindedly, like interfering with it healing, it sometimes helps to wear gloves so that you can't pick the scab off....
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
Definitely. I got a cut on my hand the other day (no idea how) and I think I stared at it for like 20 minutes before I snapped myself out of it. Best thing I could suggest is cover it up, like you said you did, and move on. Try to keep your mind preoccupied while it heals.
covering it up might help.
i've had it out today which hasnt helped the urges.
but i've had a suprisingly good day, went shopping and actually managed to talk to my mum about things :)
so i'm feeling ok for now.
mind you i've gone a month before, well a month witout serious sh but i started again. and this is completely cold turkey.
it is tempting. but i gotta be strong i got to.
i'm getting my wisdom teeth out this wednesday not looking forward to extra pain and extra triggers.
thanks for replying guys,
i'll keep ya posted,
