I did a year of once-weekly group psychodrama (which is a little different to drama therapy) with PTSD issues in mind, and my experience was so valuable. If there were any psychodrama groups around me now I'd jump at the chance to join. It is very effective in working through past and present difficulties, especially relational ones, and doesn't rely on talking exclusively as the way through situations - it also focusses on movement and what is happening in the body, at times when talking can be difficult.
No 'acting' required, either :) And group psychodrama is wonderful because being part of other people's situations (you don't necessarily focus on yourself in every session - you become 'part' of other people's work) and helping them through those teaches you SO much about your own situation.
That's my take on psychodrama; I'm not sure how drama therapy specifically works, but my advice is, in either situation, make sure you only join a registered group where the therapist knows what they are doing.
