Yes, Trichotillomania or however you spell it. It is a form of self-harm.
I had it and ripped out my eyebrows which still haven't grown back 11 years later. Also ripped out my eyelashes, which fortunately regrew.
Please be careful, and if you are not currently receiving professional help, I would strongly recommend it.
yes, it is. from experience i know that it can be just as painful as anything else, and though it doesn't really leave a mark or scar as such, it can take ages to get to where it isn't noticable...... but since its intentionally causing yourself pain, its self harm
i've just looked it up, and i'm not sure if its exactly categorized as trichotillomania.... thats seems to be more when you pull out hairs individually and its more like an anxious habit than a "i'm going to hurt myself" type behavior..... i may be wrong on this though.
like Facet said, getting to a doctor early is a good idea.
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
Yes, it is self harm. I've actually used that method a couple of times... It's not a good habit to start. Maybe you should think about seeing a therapist?

Fall apon my knees,
Find a way to lie,
About the home I'll never see"

Not a stupid question, better to be informed I think.
But yes. It is self injury. I used to do it as a cutting replacement, or if I couldn't cut. It was to feel pain, and feel better, like cutting.
But hair pulling is often common in anxiety or OCD too, when it's a compulsion. It's also a tourettes behavior; a neurological tic. But in most cases it's out of OCD or self injury.
I used to do it quite often when I was trying to stop cutting but I'd only ever pull tiny chunks of hair from underneath. But then my hair started to fall out more often + in bigger quantities so I stopped because I was scared I was going to end up bald :/
I would advise you get help for it asap though before it turns into a major habit.

this is what has been happening to me
We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves.
Yes Trichotillomania, hair pulling, is considered self-harm if it's done with the intention to casue yourself pain. I pulled my hair all the time when I was a kid whenever I was upset-not enough to pull the hair out, but just enough to feel tension at the roots. It calmed me down.
